A few years ago I read a great blog post entitled something like ‘why I let my daughters play with Barbie/ Bratz’ and I would like to find it again. I have no idea who wrote it. Does anyone remember it? I know it was discussed on here but it might have been 9 or 10 years ago. The argument was something along the lines that discouraging girls from liking ‘sexualised’ dolls runs the risk of discouraging them from fully owning their own sexuality when older, and instils the idea that women should be submissive/ asexual and should never display their sexuality. It was better put than that. Interested in any similar articles/ thoughts also if the original one can’t be found. Thanks

Thanks. I’ve just read it all! Not the one I was looking for, but interesting. Let me know if you come across any others

I have to admit, I used to watch the Bratz series when my nieces were little. It was quite watchable, but I thought the themes were a bit too grown up ( for example, the rival twins in the series one had a nose job). The punching down at the Barbieesque twins never sat quite right with me. I know they were meant to be shallow and stupid but to me it felt a little dismissive of blonde, white chicks. (I know Chloe was blonde too, but she was very urban in her fashion)
