A brand that recognises and helps women (maybe charitable tie ins) etc?

Any recommendations? Needs to be particularly robust (we are taking The Shining level of flow here).

@SusannaMorvern

I've used Bodyform for 40yrs, although I miss the days when they were shaped with a hump (!) in the middle, far more effective at night.
Me too ! I remember them coming out, they were the first towel I used, with the quilted surface and the natural shape. Now I mainly use period pants but I do still use Bodyform if I am using a towel .
Dogman · 11/04/2021 22:50

I swapped to body form last year as a result of their advertising. So powerfully and honestly women centric and recognising our awesome biology.

MabelPines · 11/04/2021 22:51

I would definitely second the recommendations for Bodyform, they never irritate my very sensitive vulva (I seriously develop thrush from everything !) and they have a good range of size/absorbency.

I always use the night time range because I have a very heavy flow and they work well for me.

I also like their advertising campaigns and social media presence.

Earth wise girls have a selection of washable pads and mooncups.

The pads are much better than you might think and the site does comparisons of sizes.

Most are made by work at home mums so definitely the best place to put your money.

More of an outlay than you'd pay monthly but so worth it.

Earth wise - the disposable ones are Natracare so that’s a miss from me.

Flo bamboo pads. Only available in multi packs unfortunately. Night pads are good, day pads still good but had a few near misses on heavy days. They donate to orchid project and bloody good period.

ImFree2doasiwant · 12/04/2021 00:04

@toffeebutterpopcorn i use washable pads from honour your flow. They are the only pads that coped with my horrendously heavy periods.

Ireallymustgotobed · 12/04/2021 00:08

Hey Girls are good, give a free product away for every one sold. Based in Scotland and talk about girls and women in their website. I haven’t used their disposable stuff, but their menstrual cup suits me better than a moon cup.

WithLargeTableMouse · 12/04/2021 02:01

I was very pleasantly surprised when I bough lil-lets recently by the tag line on the box that read something like ‘designed by women, for women’. In fact I was honestly a bit emotional reading that, obviously partly due to PMT Blush I’m not sure on their suitability for heavy flow as the tampons I bought recently were tiny even though they were meant to be super.
This is of help to you of course op but I was just pleased to see the word Women on there!

WithLargeTableMouse · 12/04/2021 02:01

*sorry, I meant this is of No help to you op.

What’s the issue with Natracare? Must have missed that? I shop around for DDs as natural fabrics and non perfume are what they want. Like a brand that’s pays it forward too. Have used lots of different brands from Natural Collection website but it’s an ever ongoing quest.

@Whatwouldscullydo

Which is strange given they were kinda the ones who started it all..

Mind u always and tampax do seem to have quietly gone back...I guess they realised alienating their customers was a bad idea

Really?

I thought Always and Tampax were all about the menstruators. Didn't Always remove the Venus sign from its packaging so as not to offend anyone?

I've avoided buying anything from either company ever since.

Another vote for BodyForm.

fantasmasgoria1 · 12/04/2021 06:14

I have a moon cup but use kotex night time pads too because my flow is extremely heavy.

EdgeOfACoin · 12/04/2021 06:22

I've just been to the Always website. Gosh, there has been a turnaround. It's all about women and girls!

Natsku · 12/04/2021 06:52

For anyone looking for menstrual cups, MeLuna are good, lots of talk about women on their website, including talking about inequality that women face.

YouSetTheTone · 12/04/2021 08:41

That Bodyform advert is truly brilliant! I’d like to hug the team who came up with that. Powerful about things that only women can experience, which is utterly relevant to a product aimed AT WOMEN.
Gutted about Natracare because I actually really like the feel of those pads and the packaging. I’ve become increasingly sensitive to plastic-y type material and anything scented is a big no.
I’ll give Bodyform a go though.

toffeebutterpopcorn · 12/04/2021 08:51

I have forgotten what hacked me off about Natracare - it’s in a thread here so I’ll have a look.

So far the Rael is holding up well - a decent size for nighttime, comfortable and no changing the bedsheets necessary! And not ‘scrunchy’ or scratchy.

I liked Natracare, but this load of scientifically illiterate rubbish about intersex people being neither male nor female hacked me right off.

Bodyform is the only brand you can reliably grab in most shops and supermarkets without worrying you're going to end up inflicted with magic tree or toilet cleaner scent.

What kind of maniac adds scents to sanpro in the first place?!

FourEyedFreak13 · 12/04/2021 09:03

TOMT are really good and eco friendly 😊

HazeyJaneII · 12/04/2021 09:12

I use Bodyform (easy to avoid scented products) when things are Carrie level.
Washable ones on other days.

With any luck they had their eyes opened on reddit or something

toffeebutterpopcorn · 12/04/2021 10:30

No apology? Yes I am that mean...

awwww hit their sales did it? Insulting and mugging off your client base will do that for a brand. Especially when women started looking that the products they push to developing countries that have been reported as causing flipping chemical rashes.

I stopped buying Always after I read African women's accounts of burning and itching when using Always under #myalwaysexperience. Sounds like they provide a substandard product in Africa which is pretty shitty.
