Teen Vogue positions itself as the wokest of the woke, especially on trans issues

Jim VandeHei, the Axios co-founder replied to McCammond’sexit tweet, writing: “You will always be a part of the Axios family. Alexi admitted her mistakes, repented (years ago and again of late) and showed during her four years with us she was a strong woman with a big heart. She was a great colleague who often stood up for others. Sad outcome @teenvogue.”

Hallelujah!

toffeebutterpopcorn · 19/03/2021 08:40

It’s a bit like passing a virginity test with this lot.

Helleofabore · 19/03/2021 09:06

I think teen Vogue is far more concerned with it’s alternative audience than teenaged girls.

toffeebutterpopcorn · 19/03/2021 09:07

I’ve just had breakfast.... but yes, you are right.

EarthSight · 19/03/2021 09:18

Oh my God - so she was 17 when she made these tweets??

Ereshkigalangcleg · 19/03/2021 09:32

I wonder if the same would have happened to a man? See Damian Barr etc.

toffeebutterpopcorn · 19/03/2021 09:34

Of course not. I haven’t seen many men being hounded out of hubs for relatively recent/current boo boos let alone tweets as a teen.

SquishySquirmy · 19/03/2021 09:44

No, it wouldn't happen to a man!
In fact (based on non-scientific observations) men's stupid behaviour is often excused by being "young at the time", even when they weren't that young! I think men aren't expected to be mature enough to take responsibility for their actions until they're around 40.
For women and girls it's around 13 I think...

Those tweets were offensive. But she was a teenager at the time, and has already apologised. The tweets I've seen were horrible, but they weren't inciting violence or wishing death on anyone.
Lots of people wrote/said/did stupid things in their teens. It's awful to think that stupid tweets could affect their careers decades later. Do the journalists who complained not believe in the capacity for change?

Her partner made threats against a female reporter and kept his plum role: www.vanityfair.com/news/2021/02/i-will-destroy-you-biden-aide-threatened-a-politico-reporter-pursuing-a-story-on-his-relationship

toffeebutterpopcorn · 19/03/2021 09:54

Well there you go. I would guess there is a man waiting to step into the role to continue the decline of teen vogue...

InspiralCoalescenceRingdown · 19/03/2021 13:39

Wokery in action.

The concept of sin, but without the concepts of forgiveness or redemption.

nauticant · 19/03/2021 13:56

There's plenty of forgiveness available. It's just that only certain classes of people qualify for the necessary indulgences.

toffeebutterpopcorn · 19/03/2021 13:57

I wonder if she will take to sackcloth and ashes - or get angry?

toffeebutterpopcorn · 21/03/2021 10:58

Plot twist... (female) staffer on the rag who brayed for a sacking, and did a happy dance when the editor left... now found to have used Very Bad Word racist slur in old tweets...
