I am hoping that others might come and critique my argument regarding right wing politics. I am gender critical, have always been, however I have had the same experience as many other posters about whether I am on the wrong side of history.
I live in the USA and in a very conservative state. One of the differences between my politics and the right wing politics (on this matter) is that I dont believe that sex and gender are necessarily linked (I see gender as a series of oppressive social norms which are, nurture based and harmfully stereotypical) - whereas many right wing commentators/politicians seem to think that they definitely are and cannot be decoupled. In fact, when I listen to/read about the arguments (I am thinking about Marjorie Taylor Greene and others like her) that there are only two genders, because there are only two sexes, it seems clear that the argument cannot ever be settled because we are talking about two totally different concepts (one biological (fact), one social).
I cannot help but think that often when politicians, commentators etc. talk about this issue that this sex/gender confusion causes most of the problems.
I am just musing really - I come from a generation where we used gender as the polite word for sex, now when I talk to people about the issue and use the terms accurately - people are taken back - but respond more positively.
I would love to know if anyone else thinks this way or whether my insomnia is rotting my brain!
