Hi, this is my first ever thread so apologies for any errors. I just wanted to draw attention to this cause. I'm in NO way attached to it - but I've recently been donating left and right to any causes that will further the public debate and discussion on the importance of sex based rights. Alison Bailey, Sex Matters. And now this AEA.
In a nut shell they are trying to undo misinformation on the equality act spread by the EHRC which directed most employers to follow self ID practices rather than preserving single sex spaces in the work place. Their crowdfunded only has 9 days left and it is not close to target so I thought I'd raise awareness here. When I get more money, I shall be donating to fairplay for women next.
I often feel like I cant do anything major in fighting to preserve women and girl spaces. I debate with friends and colleagues around me but it goes nowhere and changes nothing. But I feel hopefully it will help the bigger players if I am able to throw what money I can their way so they can take the fight to the public arena and raise public awareness of all of this. I feel strongly that this is better than doing nothing and simply watch history go backwards for women. Having read invisible women - my eyes have been opened. Highly recommended read for anyone btw! And I've gifted the book to some female friends and also to men in my friendship circles who dont understand my concerns and think I'm being transphobic or unsupportive to marginalised and suicidal people.
I know I dont need to say it, but I am NOT anti trans people but I do feel further public discussion is needed with both women and transgenders to come to a fair and practical solution. Conversation is needed. Not all this #notadebate crap.
I am unsure if I can post the link. I'll give it a go. If not - then perhaps just google crowdfunded AEA and EHRC and I'm sure the page will come up.
