About 200,000 women could be in line for payouts averaging £13,500 to top-up the underpayment of their state pension for up to two decades.

If you know of anyone entitled to it, tell them to claim.

ArabellaScott · 04/03/2021 12:07

Wow, that's great news.

SunsetBeetch · 04/03/2021 12:08

Thanks in part to the Daily Mail, of all places!

Sophoclesthefox · 04/03/2021 12:42

Amazing! Am going to check on behalf of my mum, who sounds like she might be in that cohort.

This is excellent new!

The main reason that women are so angry is that the law was changed, our pension contributions were stolen to different extents nd although the post April 2016 pensioners were told we were getting the full new pension. Many of us did not. In the current climate this change should be reversed in order to free up whatever jobs are done by the “vulnerable” over 60s for younger fitter people.

My DM passed in 2017, 14 years after her 65th birthday.

I wonder if she was ripped off.

How do we check? Want to check for my grandmother.

MildredPuppy · 04/03/2021 13:47

its great this has been uncovered but terrible it happened. The Daily Mail is popular with older women so hopefully they will see this and re-coup their money.

Ereshkigalangcleg, if you go to HMRC you can check NI contributions, although to be honest you need a UTR (unique taxpayer reference) and it's a bit of a faff/complicated for an older person - perhaps best to phone HMRC directly?
ArabellaScott · 04/03/2021 14:10

I've always found them very helpful on the phone.

Brill. I've sent the link to my mum, just in case.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 04/03/2021 16:03

Thanks for the checker!
