Hats off to those who did this!

Link?

I’m not sure how to add a link, but the OP is talking about an awareness raising stunt done by a feminist group in Paris, where they stuck the names of famous women over the street signs to highlight how few streets are named after women. No streets were actually renamed.

Just so you know, in England local councils usually have a street naming and numbering officer, they try to avoid using names where at all possible (definitely not while living, at death - try to leave off a good number of years in case anything nefarious comes to light).

They can rename streets, but the consultation on this is complicated as it needs to be done with consent of residents (and is a massive, massive headache changing every contact and documents for everyone living on the street - its usually only reserved for if the roads and houses are being demolished).

The best way is to campaign for any local historical figures who have been overlooked to have street names in new areas.

There was recently a campaign to rename London cycle routes from boring admin numbers and letters to commemorate famous people.

It would be lovely if something like this were done nationally to celebrate women

Sorry, realised I listened to an old podcast and thought the activism had only just happened Blush

That reminds me. What happened to the tube station art project where the map was going to have significant women's names for the stations? Does anyone have news on that?
