How can a TWAW believer write a book on puberty!?

Dr Ranj, who is fully of the TWAW tribe, has written a book for boys on puberty. I've not read it, but how can he possibly advice boys on biological facts, when he is in full denial of the human sexual condition!?
It apparently has a section on consent, but when women say they don't consent to sharing single sex spaces, we need to shut up 🤨

I heard him discuss this on the Scummy Mummies podcast and wondered where he is on this issue. He sounded eminently sensible and well-intentioned except for one single mention of the book being for boys 'and anyone who identifies as a boy'.

Given he then went on to say the book was about body parts and experiences only boys can have, I did wonder what use a book about foreskins and shaving and male puberty could be to anyone who didn't have those things, even if they were genuinely dysphoric? Hmm

I think that this could be good. Not everyone who holds the twaw belief literally believes that they are biologically women, but that they should be treated as if they are women (which is fair enough as long as they don't compromise upon single sex spaces, statistics etc). I look forward to his book for girls (my youngest lives him!)... Hopefully it will be "puberty for girls" not "puberty for cervix havers".

Exactly. No; females are not going to go through a male puberty if they 'identify' as a boy. Funny how their understanding on a subject can snap into place when money is involved.

What does treated as if they are women mean? Confused
Mumofgirlswholiketoplaywithmud · 27/02/2021 15:47

I think that a lot of TWAW people just equate it to using the pronouns "she and her" and haven't thought about it much more than that

There is a an awful lot of "going through the puberty of the gender you identify with" that is just not going to happen, even with the benefit of puberty blockers, testosterone and perfect surgery.

It just isn't possible without the appropriate bits.

Yes! I'm curious if he uses gender neutral language throughout the book, because girls have balls dropping too 🧐

"treated as if they are women" would mean being alternately abused and ignored rather than listened to and championed, mind.

absolutely. As far as I can see the only way you could characterise 'being treated as a woman' would be all those things as the very concept of 'being treated as a woman' is sexist and negative.

Apart from being talked down to and ignored, the other thing I notice when men 'talk to me like a woman' is that they might swear less and use less sexist 'bantz'.

Is that the extent of 'being treated as a woman sought/imagined by the TWAW believers? That and access to female only spaces?

Trouble is, they don't get talked down to and ignored so the only bit left that I can see is less swearing and sexist bantz and full access to women's spaces. Is that all the 'treated as a woman experience' is (for certain types of women obvs)??

Whatwouldscullydo · 27/02/2021 16:21

I agree it would be interesting to see how it was written.

The whole point of these books besides explaining biologically what happens, is to make you realise you aren't alone, everyone goes through it and hopefully give you the comfort of knowing you aren't alone ajd that you are all in it together. Jot something that can be achieved if the entire sex class is written out of it or theres an insinuation there's a right and wrong puberty.

Has anyone read it yet?

Numicon · 27/02/2021 16:31

It's just infuriating how the TWAW is 'true' when women have to give things up, but not when it's for money making purposes.

After reflection I'm feeling like I might retract my "that's fair enough"...

Thingybob · 27/02/2021 17:14

The first few pages are available as a preview on Amazon and it is all factual talk about things such as willies, balls and stiffies (it also has the correct terminology) so I can't see it being at all relevant to a trans boy. It looks a good book for a pre teen boy.

Numicon · 27/02/2021 17:37

I'm sure it IS a good factual book, but why is a man who believes TWAW not using language like penis/extra large clitoris (considering women can apparently have penises now, but call them such bizarre things as a large clitoris)

It's the double standards. Women can't say only boys have penises, but as soon as a man writes a book full of these 'transphobic' statements, it's ok Angry
