Such an unfortunate turn of events that she was the one to stand up in Congress about the harmful wording in the Equality Act in the US that will replace sex as a protected characteristic with gender identity, but she did it none the less. Her arguments were awful though, she didn't make a compelling point, so it was a massive wasted opportunity, plus her general credibility is at zero, and she invoked the bible, but at least she spoke up. How do my fellow American or America transplants FWRs feel about having her as the poster child?! It's sitting very uncomfortably with me but at least it may get some people thinking?

I "threw" in the word white because white evangelical christians are radically different from black evangelical christians and I certainly didn't want to include black evangelical churches and church-goers in anything to do with MTG. If you are conflating MTG with evangelical christians, you certainly aren't referring to black evangelical churches.

Ideological purity will not protect women and girls.

And you think she cares about protecting women and girls? It's not ideological purity to say someone who would actively work to remove women's rights is not on our side, she's just another run of the mill anti- abortion ultra-gender conforming (so as not to alarm her male peers) right wing woman. With a side order of batshit conspiracy theories.

Now I am totally comfortable with the fact that I may agree with people on one subject, but totally disagree on another. But I think I'm fairly safe to say that I probably don't agree with her on much more than the really obvious shit, like 1+1=2 for example. But I say probably, because have you seen the insane stuff she believes??

I don't care if it makes me "ideologically pure" to state categorically that she isn't on our side.

I grew up with plenty of evangelical Christians.

Green's actions simply leach credibility from the GC viewpoint. It will be seen as more toxic than ever, thanks to her.

I consider myself wholeheartedly GC and I think it was shitty to put up the sign. Make a cogent argument in Congress against the bill, great. Put up a deliberately goady sign (that will just galvanize the opposition) right across the hall from a political opponent who you KNOW will take it as a personal attack on her family, that's shitty.

Why would the sign be taken as a personal attack on her family? It was just a response to her own actions, and the content of the sign was very mild.

Marie Newman:

Our neighbor, @RepMTG, tried to block the Equality Act because she believes prohibiting discrimination against trans Americans is “disgusting, immoral, and evil.”

Thought we’d put up our Transgender flag so she can look at it every time she opens her door

Marjorie Taylor Greene:

Our neighbor, @RepMarieNewman, wants to pass the so-called "Equality" Act to destroy women’s rights and religious freedoms.

Thought we’d put up ours so she can look at it every time she opens her door

With the tweet "misgendering" her trans daughter...

Quoting from:

www.vice.com/en/article/g5bepx/marjorie-taylor-greene-harassed-the-trans-child-of-a-congressional-colleague

Democratic Rep. Marie Newman spoke on the floor in support of the bill and talked about her transgender daughter, who came out to her parents two years ago.

“I knew from that day on, my daughter would be living in a nation where in most of its states, she could be discriminated against merely because of who she is,” Newman said. “And yet it was still the happiest day of my life, and my daughter has found her authentic self. And as any mother would, I swore that I would fight to ensure this country changes for the better.”

Greene retweeted a clip of Newman speaking, and personally attacked her daughter by misgendering her. “As mothers, we all love and support our children,” she wrote. “But your biological son does NOT belong in my daughters’ bathrooms, locker rooms, and sports teams.”

[End of quote]

The reference to "biological son" was a correct reference to the person's sex; and was reasonably needed to make the point that was being made. I'm sure you could find some other form of words to express the same meaning, but I don't see "biological son" as a big deal in this context. If accurately referring to someone's sex is now supposed to be a highly offensive personal attack, maybe people are getting oversensitive.

MTG didn't need to bring up her trans daughter specifically. She could have just spoken about the issue in a more general way. But if another politician introduces the subject of their trans daughter... the rhetoric used at least in these quotes is really very mild.
