RSE resources - does this exist or do we need to create it?

I've been thinking about the new guidance re RSE policies and the need for schools to do due diligence on any external resources they use. Also, I am still fuming since seeing the so-called female role-models my daughter was presented with in a recent PD lesson. It is very clear that many teachers are using external resources and 99% of these have not been checked by the RSE lead and/or planned in advance (often they seem to be the product of a google search with no thought for who put together the video/graphics etc and/or any underlying messages they may be communicating).
That said, it must be difficult for teachers to find good quality material for every message they are being asked to talk about in numerous PD/RSE lessons and many may not be aware of the elephant traps.
So, I'm wondering is ther already a decent website out there with links to resocurces that pass the GC feminist test? If not, I wonder if we have the skills needed to put something together - even if it is just a series of links and even if it just helps a few teachers that would be a step in the right direction given how insideous the messages are in schools these days.

Possibly worth waiting until the guidance has been through the promised review. Be a shame to do all that work only for it to end up being out of date.

A letter sent, on 1 October 2020, to the Secretary of State for Education, by Bindmans on behalf of the groups claimed that the guidance was irrational; that it failed to properly account of issues of discrimination; and that it was so vague and poorly written that it would have a chilling effect on free speech in the classroom and the role of educators.

After some initial resistance the Secretary of State for Education notified the group’s lawyers by letter on Monday that there would be a review of the guidance “in light of the issues your clients have raised”.

Hi Msfogi, Transgender Trend (make sure you e hit the right website as the trans activists set up an almost identical one) and Safe Schools Alliance will give you a good starting point.

Out of interest who were the female role models put forward to your dd? Please tell me they were actually female?

gardenbird48 · 11/02/2021 23:11

Here you go.

And this article lays out the problems with Stonewall etc in schools. Hope that is helpful - there are various threads in here with advice did parents in your exact situation- I’m sure someone will be along soon to give links (I can’t work advanced search very well :-))

Happy reading

TransgenderTrend have done several good exposes into the queer theory currently invading schools from adult organisations with vested interests in porn, queer theory and gaslighting children:

Sorry OP - I know this doesn't answer your question ...

MsFogi · 11/02/2021 23:36

Thanks all - I have already marked up my school's RSE policy using the TT guidance. However what I am talking about is resources for teachers so that when, for example, they google Inspirational LGBXY women they don't come up with Munroe Bergdorf and Jameela Jamil.

This is a great idea if this doesn't exist already. Doesn't TT do resources for teachers, I thought they had a "schools pack" the TRAs were incandescent about?

persistentwoman · 12/02/2021 00:04

The TT schools pack seems to be more guidance for schools rather than curriculum materials which is what the OP is after I think.
Maybe women do need to write SRE materials - but my preference is to get the queer theory / porn activists out of the system and return SRE materials to being educational and appropriate for all children, focusing on their needs rather than the demands of adults with vested interests.

Tes is a teacher resource sharing site where you can upload your own resources.

The site now do a recommended resources for anything that hits the new curriculum pretty well.

So you could tailor your own resources and put how they fit the DfE advice in the description.

ValancyRedfern · 12/02/2021 17:45

I've seen resources that claim to meet the new criteria but in my opinion don't. For example I've seen it argued by pshe teachers that the 'gender unicorn' does not imply a child can be born in the wrong because it it separates out sex, gender identity and gender expression. There is a definite lack of good pshe resources and a lot of schools don't have any specialist teachers so reliance on bought in/googled materials is extremely high. I think some ready to use resources would be absolutely amazing. If I had any time I would make them myself but too busy teaching full time... Would be happy to collaborate with others on something.

Fallingirl · 12/02/2021 19:10

I think TT is working on producing appropriate resources, but I don’t know what the timescale is on that.

Maybe you could contact them snd ask?
