This article says JK Rowling 'doubled down on her transphobic views' without any evidence obviously.

@Justhadathought

....and is female.
Well, well, well

Always a source of hilarity that these overgrown children

CranberriesChoccyAgain · 26/01/2021 12:35

Can't let go of their fantasy world. It's almost like they can't understand reality.

RozWatching · 26/01/2021 12:43

@ArabellaScott

The Guardian is sitting about the level of the Independent these days. I dont even bother clicking, for the most part. It carries as much weight as a random blog.
Me neither - I rarely even read threads about the Guardian these days. It's astonishing how Katharine Viner has managed to destroy its reputation in such a short space of time.
RoyalCorgi · 26/01/2021 12:49

To me, that sentence about doubling down on her transphobia is clearly libellous. I'm astonished the Guardian published it, as Rowling has shown no hesitation in undertaking litigation in the past. She obviously isn't going to sue every loser on Twitter who publishes lies, but you can't let something like that stand in a national newspaper. Don't forget, last year a website called The Day was forced to apologise to Rowling after libelling her.

BlackForestCake · 26/01/2021 13:07

I don’t care about the author's opinions, but don't papers have lawyers any more?

PurpleHoodie · 26/01/2021 13:17

JK is very Bruce Lee.

Clever and classy.

WarOnWomen · 26/01/2021 13:28

Another blah piece from Guardian. They don't really cater for UK any more, the money is in the US and they are following the woke money over there.

As for Adrian, well, what can I say? It's libellous and ridiculous at the same time. JKR and HBO will make a ridiculous amount of money from it as there are huge numbers of existing HP fans worldwide (which Adrian and others of their ilk seem to forget about in their little bubble) who couldn't give a shit or know anything about JKR's "transphobic" views and lots of new fans in every generation.

Justhadathought · 26/01/2021 13:30

It’s pretty funny, though, because where he says her “transphobic views

Adrian Horton is female.

RoyalCorgi · 26/01/2021 14:17

You have to wonder. If this had been written by a journalist in the Guardian's UK team, the lawyers wouldn't have allowed it through. However, it was written for Guardian US, and I wonder if their standards are more lax.

BraveBananaBadge · 26/01/2021 15:23

Slight derail but still Guardian related, this bothered me yesterday, to the point I wondered if it could have really been in the copy Brian Logan submitted. He’s a male comedy critic of a certain age, so I don’t understand why he’d immediately refer to “trans-bashing Ricky Gervais” in the intro.

God, the US Guardian writers always seem so one tone and miserable.

On a more positive note the news of this potentially new HP series is mostly getting good feedback on social media.

BlackForestCake · 26/01/2021 16:33

could have really been in the copy Brian Logan submitted

It might have been put in by a sub-editor, but it’s also Logan’s job as a cultural critic to keep up with trends and jargon. Perfectly plausible he wrote it himself.

HecatesCats · 26/01/2021 16:33

So, so pious

HecatesCats · 26/01/2021 16:34

Was responding to GivesNoFox

lockdownshmockdown · 26/01/2021 16:44

@HecatesCats

Wow, he knows lots of big words, he must be a clever man. If only JKR had a modicum of his intelligence and insight. Definitely not a load of shallow, pseudointellectual waffle peppered with millennial buzzwords, not at all.

Yep. Many large words. How big of brain am I. Can't write them in any coherent order though. What lot of garbled nonsense.

Beamur · 26/01/2021 16:56

Maybe Brian Logan is pals with Frankie Boyle?

ProfessorSillyStuff · 29/01/2021 19:14

His writing is so dull! I couldn't make it past the second paragraph.

Wandawomble · 29/01/2021 21:22

Libel?
