Tonight’s interview on Triggernometry is with Marcus Eans of the Tai.

I’d suggest watching early in case it gets taken down!

Oh wow!

Ereshkigalangcleg · 15/01/2021 16:08

Fantastic!

Socrates11 · 15/01/2021 16:24

You guys are definitely on a roll, Shrier is excellent at getting her message across. Looking forward to it 👍

Melroses · 15/01/2021 19:10

Thank you. Marcus Evans was very good on this. I have seen him before and been very impressed. He explains really well

Looking forward to Abigail Shrier.

sashagabadon · 15/01/2021 19:23

I’m listening to Shrier’s audio book at the moment in my commute to work. It’s an excellent listen and really quite shocking listening to how this has taken over schools in the west coast of america ( in particular)

ThePankhurstConnection · 15/01/2021 19:41

@Triggerpod

Glad you're all enjoying in. Barring any last minute changes, Abigail Shrier will be on the show next week.
Oh good.

I did enjoy the Marcus Evans one, he was very informative and you let him speak so we could hear his story.

Thanks for having these people on - they are who we want to hear from.

ThePankhurstConnection · 15/01/2021 19:41

@EmmanuelleMakro

Triggernomtry podcast is fab and had saved my sanity this year.
Mine too.
persistentwoman · 16/01/2021 18:07

What an excellent interview that was. So good to hear someone who knows and understands psychology and children.
Well worth a listen.

SophocIestheFox · 16/01/2021 18:19

Excellent show @Triggerpod, really nicely done. Marcus is incredibly articulate, compassionate and thoughtful. I’ve been listening to a lot of your back catalogue, and while I really enjoyed this show, I’m trying to focus on listening to people who I’m pretty sure I disagree with, of which you have quite a few Grin sometimes my views change, sometimes they don’t.

A question, though, if you’re still around. It strikes me quite strongly how different your interview with Posie Parker was, in that you challenged her a LOT more than you tend to do with other guests. It’s quite stark- you are usually excellent at letting your guests talk, prompting them and leading them into free flowing conversations.

With Posie, though, there was a real uptick in the interruptions and contradictions/counter arguments from both Konstatin & Francis. Were you aware of that? What was it about her that made you feel you had to do that? Did she particularly piss you off? Grin Given the furore afterwards with the YouTube being taken down etc, would you do anything differently if you did the interview now?

Thanks, if you feel like answering Grin keep on keeping on, anyway, it’s a very interesting show.

Triggerpod · 16/01/2021 18:37

It's mainly chronological. She was the first gender critical person who we interviewed about this issue and we knew a lot less about it at the time.

I would disagree that we let our other guests talk more. We almost never interrupted Posie, we just disagreed with her more than with others (at that time).

When we get her back on the show you will see a very different conversation, I suspect. We both really liked her and we got on very well, including during the interview itself.

Deltoids1 · 16/01/2021 18:58

I imagine you’ve been on a similar gender critical journey to most of us since that conversation with Posie Triggerpod Grin
That’s the great thing about Posie, she’s happy to take it on the chin in interviews because she can is incredibly sharp and argues her points so eloquently. She gets people thinking.
Thanks for the show. It’s been a high point of the past 12 months.

Great that you’re getting her back, and I look forward to that interview. I did get the sense that you got on well with her, that does come across, but there was this part where you both seemed utterly nonplussed by her flat insistence on correctly sexing people. Honestly, awkward as it was, I kind of enjoyed it, because it was a great illustration of how much people object to it, even fair minded fellows such as yourselves Grin

I listen to it as a podcast so maybe there’s something I was missing in the nuance of the face to face, but it did seem she got less airtime. I’m not saying that this is because she’s a woman or anything like that, I think you interview women and men the same way, but it did seem like you disagreed a lot more with her. Might have another listen, it’s def. worth it.

Any guests coming up that you think will particularly interest we vipers? Indulge me, I’m always telling people to listen to you, I’m a great wee PR machine for you Grin

OhHolyJesus · 16/01/2021 19:39

@Triggerpod I really enjoyed hearing Marcus, I've heard him before and he has such a wealth of experience and is a clear and reasonable voice. I'm really pleased you gave him the platform to speak.

Posie's interview is one I watch again and again. I also really enjoy Douglas Murray as a repeat guest. Dr Ella Hill one of the most striking, a lot of what she said has stayed with me.

Have you thought about having Keira Bell on. Her story is so often cut into shorter formats, your platform does give space and time to explore subjects in more depth. Though she may be fed up of repeating herself and want a break from the spotlight!

You should probably have someone from Parler on too. All just suggestions, very much enjoying the content. 👏🏻

JoodyBlue · 16/01/2021 20:08

I'm really enjoying the podcasts too, now on my regular listen in list. To be honest, I liked the fact that you held Posie accountable for her views. The fact that you questioned her, she answered, and I felt her answers held up well. If something is true, no amount of counter questioning will reveal a false answer. I felt that was the case in your interview with her. She is a brilliant interviewee, she doesn't take offence, but answers honestly in with integrity as she speaks the truth as she sees it.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 16/01/2021 20:27

I'd suggest Roz Kavaney but I have no idea how well she interviews if she is disputed with. A very interesting person, though.

PopperUppleton · 16/01/2021 23:21

Not that we ever tell anyone what to do Grin

SunsetBeetch · 19/01/2021 19:28

Another good one: Postmodernism explained by Professor Stephen Hicks.

ChattyLion · 19/01/2021 19:38

Marcus Evans came across as highly compassionate and child centred. I really appreciated listening to his psychologists’ perspective.

It really resonated with me what he said, that normally if you’ve got a problem and you’re fixed on a serious life-changing type of solution to it, you’d expect to have anxieties and second thoughts about going ahead and look at all your options ... yet here, fixated single mindedness about pursuing only one solution to emotional distress (which often has complex origins) is encouraged by some people. Strangely the fixation on one approach is seen by some people as somehow indicating that the approach is really the right course for the patient to follow.. Sad

UppityPuppity · 19/01/2021 19:52

OMG!

Fantastic.

I thought the PP interview was excellent. You gave her resource to explain her views clearly and robustly. Thank you.

ShimmyShimmyYa · 19/01/2021 20:51

excellent interview- thanks for the nudge, OP.
definitely going to watch some more trigger podcasts
