I wonder if she’d be smiling if she was there by herself and a hulking bloke was the Only other person in there, waving his willy around and trying to interact with her. Doubt she’d be quick so gleeful.

MichelleofzeResistance · 09/01/2021 12:25

The bloke I met doing it was a perfectly nice guy - I knew him, no ill intent at all, he was just doing his thing in absolute obliviousness to that female people might find this a bloody unpleasant and unwanted/crass experience.

The goal posts constantly shift. It begins with: no one will ever do this (so female people you have no right to say no to males.)

When female people say yes, they do, look there it is happening and I DONT LIKE IT OR CONSENT TO IT OR WANT TO PARTICIPATE IN IT SO I DONT WANT TO LOSE MALE FREE SPACES

It shifts to: You have a weird problem with penises, you need to get over it and embrace male people waving their bare penises around in your vicinity.

No. Fuck off. Is my considered reply.

It is not the job of those unlucky enough to be born with female biology to suck up the selfishness and desires and issues of those born with male biology.

Female people are entitled to male free spaces, and that male people don't like being told 'no' when they want to be in a female space with vulnerable females whether they consent or not is a male issue. Not a female one to fix for them at their own expense.

The sex based entitlement is exactly what underpins all of this. Make new spaces. Gold plate them. Have Elton John playing live in them. You cannot have my space with me in it and insist I selflessly meet your needs. #notyourfuckingmum

TheTamingOfTheresa · 09/01/2021 12:26

I was in the loo in Asda the other day and heard a male voice. There was a young lad and a girl at the sinks when I came out of the cubicle . He shot me such a look of jeering arrogance and entitlement . Pandora’s box is open

ElGuardiandenoche · 09/01/2021 12:27

This may be a silly question but is it possible to ring the police and report a man exposing himself? Or a person exposing themselves?

Whatwouldscullydo · 09/01/2021 12:30

The police have been "trained" by the usual suspects so will tell you they have a right to be there

MichelleofzeResistance · 09/01/2021 12:34

I suspect it's going to be (again) a female history point where older women do the whole Miss Marple Primary Teacher/Mum LOOK and voice, and do some very penis withering "put that away please" thing.

I honestly wonder sometimes if it's worth starting a campaign for spaces for female people who cannot use mixed sex spaces: fine, women's spaces are mixed sex, let's find a word that MEANS adult human females who do not prefer to use another term for themselves at this time. And then wait, so it can be then illustrated to our lovely, braindead lawmakers, that there will be howls of how female people having the right to access to a toilet that a male person can't own and be present in if they want to is phobic and hateful. And that whatever that new word is, there are suddenly male people identifying as being it.

So not about 'just peeing'.

donquixotedelamancha · 09/01/2021 12:40

But this is clearly a set up, it's not an actual trans person

MN has strict rules against claiming individuals are not really trans. Children know themselves. If this young woman's truth is pissing standing up with the door open who are we to judge. Be kind.

OldCrone · 09/01/2021 12:40

@ElGuardiandenoche

If the man claims to be a transwoman his penis becomes a female organ and no crime has been committed (just as a man exposing his penis at the urinal in the men's is not a crime).

Any woman who complains about this self identified 'transwoman' exposing 'her' penis might be accused of a hate crime or a non crime hate incident or something.

Whether this is staged or not, the single-sex exceptions in the Equality Act mean that ALL males, including those with protected characteristic gender reassignment and those with a GRC stating that they have legal recognition of acquired gender can be excluded from a women's toilet.

The relevant question is not whether this person is transgender, it is whether this person is of the male sex. The Equality Act act defines a woman as: a female of any age. All males, including those with protected characteristic gender reassignment and those with a GRC are excluded from the definition 'woman' for the purposes of the Equality Act, including the single-sex exceptions.

The GRA also indicates, through provisions stating that in certain circumstances a person with a GRC is still to be treated as their sex, that this piece of legislation is not intended to effect a change of sex.

Repeated statements by Liz Truss at the end of last year made clear the Government commitment to single-sex spaces for women that exclude all males including those who have obtained legal recognition of acquired gender through the GRA. Indeed, Prof Alex Sharpe in oral evidence given to the WEC agreed that this was the interpretation of the single-sex exceptions.

It is irrelevant whether this person is 'genuinely' transgender or is simply 'a chancer'. The relevant question for the purposes of the piece of legislation covering this person's right to be in that space is whether that person is of the male sex or of the female sex. For the purposes of the Equality Act, this person is not included in the category 'woman' and therefore is not entitled to use this space.

I found this article on the twitter feed. Ordinary people are having their eyes well and truly opened to all this.

I wonder what a jury would make of an indecent exposure case ? Especially if the complainant was a mum with young daughters in the loo. How is that different from a flasher ? Criminologists know that some perverts expose genitals to intimidate shock as a start of sexual violence. No difference if done in the loo .... if it could only get past the spineless pc police and equally spineless pc cps I think the natural common sense of a British jury would have no qualms in convicting. But there again it could well be what the flasher wants .. female prison with a captive cell mate to do more Willy waving

PotholeParadies · 09/01/2021 14:44

I used to flatshare with a bunch of girls, in women's only accommodation (back when that was allowed!), and I remember letting my flatmate know that her new boyfriend used to leave the door wide open when he used the toilet. She reminded him not to, and apparently he accused me of being weird.

I'm glad to say she dumped him. I thought then, and I think now, that it was a deliberate thing on his part. He was hoping one of us would walk past and see.

Mrsmorton · 09/01/2021 14:54

Just waiting here for @Juniperandrage to tell me the difference between this person and a transwomen.

@Whatwouldscullydo and @OldCrone thanks for the information.

@KeepPrisonsSingleSex I think it might be a good idea for me to print that out.

I'm fairly lucky in that I'm a wheelchair user so I use the accessible toilets and people tend to lock the doors and are usually pretty clean.

NiceGerbil · 10/01/2021 04:44

Sign on a door in restaurant toilets I went to in 2019.

Just FYI.

NiceGerbil · 10/01/2021 04:49

They had repurposed an old style set of toilets as 'all gender', presumably freeing up space.

There were gaps under the doors and over the sides.

When I came out a bloke was washing his hands and he looked pretty unhappy to see me.

I didn't like it.

For private businesses they can get more floor space for tables etc by ditching a set of toilets.

I won't be going back but it was in the city and a rib place so probably mainly blokes going there so they lose nothing.

I'm also not sure why that person shouldn't have been pissing in there. You go where you feel more comfy, right? And it's not on to say anything any more (although those women did).
