'Call her Daddy' podcast

I fell down a bit of a rabbit hole the other day when browsing YouTube (blame lockdown) and came across the podcast/show 'Call her Daddy' - are any familiar with it?

From what I could tell (and gather when searching for it online) it caters predominantly to women allowing them a space to openly talk about dating and relationships. I use the words dating and relationships very loosely as all they seem to discuss is casual sex. Now admittedly I'm not into casual sex myself but I don't believe I'm a prude either however their suggestions and tips were utterly depressing.

They seem to almost celebrate the worst misogynistic behaviours and encourage listeners to mold themselves so as to be mens playthings - apparently this is hugely empowering...

I don't think I'm expressing myself very well but I'd love to hear any of your thoughts if you're familiar with the show. From what I gather it is hugely popular amongst millennials - it just feels like the feminist movement is going backwards in many ways.

Can you be more specific OP? Is there a link? Thanks

Beside the point but I don't get the whole 'young' trend of calling your boyfriend 'daddy'. It seems so bizarre.

Sorry I was rather vague in my opening post - please find the link below to their youtube channel:

Having searched the web this article popped up which echoes my thoughts (I haven't seen the particular episode they reference):

pittnews.com/article/150419/opinions/opinion-call-her-daddy-podcast-entertains-and-degrades/

Some choice quotes from the above link:

*In his guest appearance, he consistently referred to women as “holes” as he educated listeners about his successful strategy of lies and manipulation...

Yet Cooper and Franklyn not only expressed full support of his general apathy and treatment towards his partners, but encouraged the same behavior from women....

Cooper and Franklyn put an emphasis on performance in the bedroom and encourage women to drop everything else that might be included in the realm of a normal relationship. They advise women to remove any expectations from men, and to “brainwash” themselves into believing that they are merely a hole.....

“You don’t want him calling you babe, you want him calling you a whore,” Franklyn said.....

Cooper and Franklyn put an emphasis on keeping up exceptional performance in the bedroom, remaining low maintenance, refraining from conversations about the relationship status, abstaining from any expression of emotion and staying noncommittal to anyone.....*

I know you get all sorts of views on the internet but the following and clout this podcast receives especially amongst the young is worrying and depressing in equal measure.

What makes you think it is popular? You've said it's popular with the young and youve said it's popular with millenials. Millenials are now 30 plus.

NotYourCisterinAus · 05/01/2021 23:39

"Daddy" is slang for a pimp. From www.aramintafreedom.org/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/Sex-Trafficking-Vocabulary.pdf:

“Daddy” - term used to describe one’s own pimp evoking images of
fatherhood. Women and girls under a pimp’s control must never know his real name or identity and refer to him exclusively as “daddy.”

Toomanyradishes · 05/01/2021 23:42

@palavah its the 5th most popular podcast in the US on spotify and the 18th in the UK so that would indicate a fair level of popularity.

I agree with the millennial comment though, its irritating seeing headlines and clickbait about what millennials are supposedly like whilst ignoring a large proprtion of them are parents and have been in the workforce for 10+ years, yet they still get written about as if they are all in their early 20s and know nothing about the 'real world'

Doyoumind · 05/01/2021 23:47

In a world where a woman singing about her 'wet ass pussy' and choking on a dick is seen as empowering and 'feminist' it doesn't feel like progress but what do us oldies know?

DidoLamenting · 06/01/2021 00:21

What a deeply unpleasant pair of young women.

Coyoacan · 06/01/2021 00:52

Do we actually know that women follow them? They sound so much like an incel's wet dream.

coronaway · 06/01/2021 00:53

Sorry millennial was a rather rushed word but I used it to get my point across of it being popular amongst 22-37 age group - a large portion of which I'd imagine would be looking to get into a serious relationship and maybe start a family.

Admittedly I think their popularity is more in the states than elsewhere (although as a pp said they're 18th most listened to podcast on the UK Spotify chart). I think they're becoming more and more popular due to memes, merchandise and clips going viral.

@Doyoumind Yes I agree (coming from a millennial!)

Oof wow

'Cooper and Franklyn provide all the necessary tips and tricks on how to master the “daddy game” — a game of manipulation and winning the power dynamic.'

The daddy thing is from the states and is very off-putting to me, but gaining traction here.

There's been threads where they say it's nothing to do with daddy's... That's literally the name! With a whole sub Dom thing of naughty girl and daddy keeping her in line.

Yes it's grim.

OP I read the link it's grim.

Women and girls as possessions etc. Yay so progressive. Hmm

coronaway · 06/01/2021 10:14

So do we just have to accept the tide has well and truly turned? The pornification culture is in full force.

OP posts:
ArabellaScott · 06/01/2021 12:53

Well, I'm sorry but I'm not going searching for it! Sounds really, really grim.

Palavah · 06/01/2021 12:56

Admittedly I'm at the extremely old end of millenial but I've never heard of it nor have any of my unmarried female friends. We'd laugh those ideas out of town.

So no, you don't have to accept the tide has turned.

TartrazineCustard · 06/01/2021 13:48

It's definitely a thing, but wider spread amongst the "extremely online," especially those who take part in fandoms. More Gen Z and late Millennial than Millennials as a whole, I'd say. I think it's partly coming from the trend for young straight women to take up ideas from gay porn, and partly from an abject fear of being "vanilla," which is also why there's so much talk about choking during sex, too.

surelynotnever · 06/01/2021 14:03

Sounds like a guide for people who want to have sex with people they don't actually like and who they know don't actually like them.

Hard to think of a more pointless hobby.
