12 Women's Pledge members in total have been voted onto the SNP's NEC, including the group's convenor, Caroline McAllister, who has been elected national women's convenor. Joanna Cherry also voted on. MP Alyn Smith, whose partner conducted a campaign of abuse against Joanna Cherry has lost his position.
there's a press release from the group on their twitter

Good for them. Smile

I hope it goes well and wish them the best.

Very happy to hear this. I live in Scotland and have been an SNP voter previously but no longer feel I can, due to their stance on women's sex-based rights. So I'm glad to see this news.

Good news, thanks for posting.

StillAHarpie · 03/12/2020 13:36

Good news, and interesting as it felt like Scotland had gone further down the rabbit hole

dyslek · 03/12/2020 21:39

This is actually huge.

SNP leadership, in line with all establishment 'progressive' political entities are pushing gender idology to the hilt.

The word got out about what it would actually mean, thanks to sheros like JK and SMP Joanna Cherry

And the woke agenda was roundly trounced as soon as the general public had a chance to make a choice.

This is really significant as it shows that once people have information the genderists are screwed.

dyslek · 03/12/2020 21:40

Sunlight, it really does work.

Me too. I’m now politically homeless .
MerchedCymru · 03/12/2020 21:46

I'd heard the good news about the wonderful Joanna Cherry and Caroline McAllister but I didn't realise the extent to which the woke had been trounced. That is such good news.

Huge credit to Joanna and Caroline, the the Women's Declaration crew but also to the extraordinarily determined For Women Scot who took up th ecause of women when no-one else was bothering - and have kept on keeping on throughout (and at considerable personal cost).

Flowers all round.

I think this has happened because the SNP has a large number of active members who are, in the best sense, a bit politically innocent. They care about independence and in the main they are sort-of left of centre, but most of them are not policy wonks. They have not been “educated” enough to understand that they're supposed to pretend men can be lesbians.

I don't see it being repeated in the Labour Party or Lib Dems because there the active members are the policy wonks.

What might happen is that the most extreme bluehairs jump ship to the Greens and the Greens become even more batshit, but of course it’s too early to tell. Not all of them will, though, because there is a factor more important than genderism: carpetbaggery. Attaching yourself to the SNP is always going to provide more career opportunities than the Greens.

But I think the point is than when ordinary people, people who have no alteria motive for drinking the cool aid (or pretending to anyway) get to find out about it they reject it out of hand.

Most ordinary members of SNP are strongly behind the leadership, but they still kicked them to the kerb because of this issue.

This is very hopeful for us. It gives the lie to the oft repeted phrase that 'why just everybody is A ok with women being locked up with rapists, children should given experimental drugs if they play with the 'wrong' sex toys ... bla bla bla'.

chestnutmares · 04/12/2020 13:12

@ALLIS0N Yes, I'm the same - in this very weird position where I believe passionately that women died to give me the vote and I would ALWAYS use it, and yet currently feel like I can't vote for anyone because of this issue. Usually, if I didn't vote SNP I'd vote Green but now can't. How long til these parties realise this! Hoping this news will help.

Yes, that's what I was trying to say. Thanks for expressing it more clearly.
