Johnny Depp Dior Sauvage

The ad isn't new but I'm surprised to have just seen it on Channel 4. Dior have obviously made a decision to stand by him. I know he's not been found guilty of anything but I feel very uncomfortable with him being used as a role model for men and to target women who buy aftershave for their men. I know it's the time of year for fragrance ads but why have they made the decision to go with this campaign again after recent events?

ugly, dirty, man sausagy and stinks of pork

So definitely a wild thing in the forest then.

BiggerBoat1 · 23/11/2020 16:30

He's not been found guilty and therefore has as much right to earn a living as anyone else. Also he's not being used as a role model - its an advert for aftershave! He's being used because of the way he looks.

He needs the money (dropped from Pirates and Hollywood won't touch him), Dior saw a publicity opportunity. L'Oréal haven't dropped Amber Heard. The nature of big business is to follow the money and fuck morality.

There are many of us who think of Sausage instead of Sauvage...... Grin

All that wine and at his age though. It's going to be a bit of a chipolata at best.

DrDavidBanner · 23/11/2020 19:07

That advert has been around for ages and I'm suprised they haven't canged it yet. He looks like he smells of booze sweats and fag breath to me.

TikTakTikTak · 23/11/2020 19:10

He's not been pretty since the 90s.

So Ambers behaviour is just fine then?

SheepandCow · 23/11/2020 19:15

What 'behaviour'? How is a domestic violence victim meant to behave?

I've gone right off sausages.

Amber doesn't advertise Sausaggggggeeeeee.
CrazyOldBagLady · 23/11/2020 19:18

I'm surprised it's still going. I think it was last Christmas that I politely declined a sniff of sausage from the nice lady in boots because it was endorsed by a wife beater.

laudemio · 23/11/2020 19:24

Probably quite hard to resort perfume ads mid pandemic and they don't want to miss Christmas sales.

laudemio · 23/11/2020 19:26

*reshoot not resort
