Jigsaw PSHE questions

My child is in reception and came home this week telling me that some children have 2 mummies or 2 daddies and that he'd learnt this at school. I agreed that this was true but added that you still need a womans egg and a man's sperm to make a baby. To clarify, I have no concerns about him learning about same sex relationships. However this got me wondering what (if anything?) school might be teaching about trans issues...I know they use Jigsaw for their pshe but can't seem to find out what this means in terms of content.
Can anyone help me find out? Obviously I can ask school but I'd like to know the general context of the pshe programme first. I understand that schools shouldn't be teaching that being gender non conforming means you're trans, is that right? My son is very black and white (I suspect ASD) and trans topics have the potential to be hugely confusing to him.

They introduce the idea of gender diversity quite early on (year 1 or 2 I think) but don't go into detail until year 6, when they seem to do a full lesson on it. Have a search, there are several threads in this section, including this recent one:

I am currently responding to a consultation at my child's school.

Thank you, this is helpful. I am very concerned about the idea of keeping secrets at this age. Need to discuss with school as on examining the SRE policy it still isn't clear to me which aspects of the jigsaw curriculum they use.

Yes, they need to clarify that. Our school gave us a matrix that showed what was used and when.

Our school are introducing Jigsaw PSHE. At a recent parent consultation the point was made that it would be good for the school to share the lesson content (although not necessarily the full lesson plans) in advance with parents. That way parents can make a more informed decision about choosing to exclude their child from any given lesson, but also consolidate the learning by discussing the topic with their kids before and after the lesson.

School agreed this was a good idea.

This thread is old but just thought I'd come back to update. I emailed the head about a week before half term but have yet to receive a reply. I used the transgender trend sample email but amended it quite a bit for our circumstances. I have subseqjetly had a generic email about the sex ed which is upcoming in term 6, inviting parents to get in touch if they have any concerns. But (to my knowledge) this is separate to the transgender teaching and I think us just a coincidence of timing. It is actually an infant school and I know the trans stuff in Jigsaw isn't taught till yr 6. However there is a child in our class who presents in clothes typically associated with the opposite sex, so I wonder if they might feel they need to address it earlier. How long should I leave it before politely chasing? I've not even recieved a holding email which surprises me. The LA is a stonewall champion and it's a LA maintained school so we'll have to see what the response is.
