Does Children in Need still support Mermaids, anyone know?

Hi. My children's school is fundraising for Children in Need. I felt a bit squeamish about CIN before because of some stuff I read on here but I don't know if they have severed links with Mermaids now. Anyone know? I've tried googling but haven't been able to find this info. Thanks

My kid also has a non-uniform day today. There is still a collection box for the poppy appeal in my local shop, so I'm going to donate there instead.

I wish the money could just go to the school - same dilemma here

Me too.

Schools haven't been given any extra cash to manage the risks of coronavirus, ffs. My kids teachers sometimes have to pay for books out of their own pockets. The school needs the money far more than Children in Need.

I emailed the school to explain why I don't support CiN (because of Mermaids) and I've donated to a very small children's charity that I know to be genuine and worthy.

Their reply made it clear the donation was optional anyway but it gave me a chance to talk about Mermaids.

It's the same with Comic Relief I believe. Best avoid both to be sure you're not financially supporting something you don't morally support.

Yes. Why donate through a third party that is racking up huge expenses and picking their own political/personal organisations into which to channel the money. I think this is morally wrong because an awful lot of people will be drawn in by the marketing and won't take the time to check where the money is going. Even if they do, they probably won't realise what some of these organisations do. It is like Kids Company all over again. All that money that could have been used so much better.
