I’ve just seen this film for the first time, and the stand out thing for me was how little attitudes to rape and convictions of rapists have changed in the last 30 years!

The idea that if a woman has a history of “promiscuousness” then she would never be able to get her rapist convicted. And women not wanting to press charges for fear of not being believed, or being spoken about or laughed at.

This should be a public information film ffs. I think it really highlights the problematic legal system.
How have things not moved on in 3 bloody decades?

I didn’t know that. Depressing.
But was the theme addressed in the same way? Just read that plot summary on wiki and it says Sam testified against Max, not that he buried the evidence of promiscuity.

Haha yeah that was my only point of reference before now. I was bitterly disappointed that he didn’t stand on any rakes!
