According to the Guardian -
'People will be required to tick female or male in response to the question “what is your sex?” with a note alerting them to a later question on gender identity. That will ask: “Is the gender you identify with the same as your sex registered at birth?” Those responding “no” will be asked to specify their gender identity.'
Most people will say yes because they don't know how regressive this question is, mostly believing that it relates to body dysmorphia. This wording will give them incorrect information. What if you don't believe what gender identity is? What if you don't know what is is? It was seen as a manly thing to go out to work for middle class people a long time ago. Some creative pursuits (like oil painting) were seen as the domain of men (watercolours being more suited for travellers and 'amateur' delicate female artists. Most of us wear trousers. Some of us have done martial arts. We read. We swear. Most of us want a life outside of the home. Some of us don't feel maternal or for whatever reason will never have children. Some of us are good at maths. Most of us are as good at reading maps, whether or not we realise it (nod to the sexist wanker wjo patronised me in my place of work once for holding the map 'like a woman' 'the wrong way around', whereas what I actually did was rotate it so that it was the correct orientation for him so he wouldn't go the wrong way, as 90% of our customers did).
Does this mean our gender idenity does not fit the sex we were born with?? Probably, because it's all based on such Victorian, regressive, sexist ideas!! It's akin to asking someone 'So which Saint do you feel closest to then? Do you prefer St Paul or St Peter'?
I reckon we should all scribble over the top of the question and write 'I don't believe in gender identity ideology'. Can you get fined for that?
