I get the Filia newsletter and it mentioned this book www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/1839094710?tag=mumsnetforu03-21 so I ordered it.

I don't know much about any interviews with politicians, their biscuits etc though.

A feminist linking me to the threads about trans widows was how I first got into MN (out of interest/empathy rather than personal experience.)

Then I picked up the vibe of Relationships board, the undercurrent of attempts at what's effectively Women's Liberation etc and started the Freedom Programme (just out of interest, I thought- ha!)

Eventually I ditched a dodgy man.

The site has been life changing for me. Thanks all. xx

Looks interesting!

I came to Mumsnet for the feminism. I don't even have children.

Does look interesting, and sympathetic to this board.

I came to mumsnet for advice about rearing my two children and I feel I have learnt so much about...well...pretty much everything. The main thing that has impacted my life is that it's ok to not settle for a crappy relationship. You have the agency to choose happiness for yourself.

So did I.

Me too. Smile And it definitely delivers. I don't have kids either.

I mainly hang out on Relationships, so you do get a few Handmaidens saying the women should shag their husbands more etc when the men are pests and stuff.

Me as well. Smile

Glad you've left a bad relationship, OP.

And then you get me telling them to LTB, cue lots of eye rolling by the "stand my your man" crowd.

I came here by chance and learned so much on the Feminism board, but I also love Housekeeping Blush, Relationships, Dogs, Style and Property - I love a nose into other people's houses.

I find I rarely discuss children on here though Grin

SoulofanAggron · 10/10/2020 14:10

And then you get me telling them to LTB,

@Annasgirl I can't think of a single time in over a year where I've said a woman should stay with a bloke. Grin Well, not many at least. A lot of people will say in a thread that the woman should tell their partner what they're not happy wth, but most of the time they already have.

By the time they've posted on the board, things are usually pretty bad/the issue is really aggravating.

Yes! Also, if you've been in a DV situation, or had someone close to you in one (my sister spent 20 years with an abusive man) you can spot the warning flags very early on in the thread. (In fact, I frequently find myself thinking just on the basis of the thread title "this will be a LTB" - e.g. thread titles like "Can violent men ever change?" "Should I leave him after just one shove?" )

SoulofanAggron · 10/10/2020 17:24

@CaraDuneRedux I think the most striking one was something like 'husband's go-to response in moments of anger.' Her husband had put his hands round her neck twice in arguments, but she hadn't recognized what it was yet.

I've definitely been there in the past when it comes to a man I thought was a friend but was using me for sex in a manipulative, narc-y way.

I've done some of the Freedom Programme and it's really helped isolate what the various tactics of abusers are etc. Hope I'll act on any major red flags if I date a man again, bin immediately after something really major, and otherwise have a 'two strikes and their out' policy.
