Exactly what @Datun said up page. Wonderful human being. Thank you Flowers

Ten year old girls... bloody heartbreaking. At ten mine still believed in Father Christmas. You still have baby teeth ! It is shocking that teenagers, mainly girls, many with ASD , are being called competent to make a lifeling decision. So disingenuous of their legal team to state that blockers stop the dysphoria. SO DOES GOING THROUGH PUBERTY , for the vast majority of children.
The fact is they don’t know all the long term effects of these drugs, they have no studies looking at what happens when these girls get old.

Flapjak · 08/10/2020 23:23

Well done Keira and Mrs A , whatever the outcome, your case has shone a light on dubious medical practices and lack of safeguarding that has been going on in many organisations.

nothingcomestonothing · 08/10/2020 23:41

Thank you for speaking out, your courage will save other children and young people from trauma and harm. I'm in awe of you Flowers

BingBongSong · 08/10/2020 23:54

Thank you Keira, Mrs A and Sue for your bravery Flowers.

ChattyLion · 09/10/2020 00:08

Thank you so much Keira for taking on all the personal intrusion by being the ‘face’ of this case, I don’t think any of us posting anonymously here underestimates the weight of taking on that side of this. Thank you for your absolute openness with your story. Wishing you the absolute best for this case and for your future.

Bringing this case as you have done it has been so important for women and girls. Consent and safeguarding are key consequences to ‘the radical notion that women are people’, equally to the radical notion that children are people. I am so sorry that you went through all of this at such a young age, thank you for now standing up for yourself and for others with such bravery.

Thank you to Mrs A for standing up for your child with such bravery too. Wishing you the best for this case and to you and your daughter for the future.

A big thank you from me too

Fallingirl · 09/10/2020 04:51

Adding my thank you to Keira and team.

It must have been a peculiar experience, listening to self-proclaimed experts claim that children and young teens are fully capable of understanding the long term implications of the drug treatments, as if you weren’t sitting right there proving otherwise.

Remember when the more hyperbolic trans advocates were claiming that we were denying trans-identified people’s existence? Well, that’s what those clinicians were doing to you, and they didn’t even appear to grasp that.

SophocIestheFox · 09/10/2020 06:15

Fist bumps to you, Keira, you have played an absolute blinder and you’re very brave x

Same to Mrs A and Sue Evans, too. You’re doing sterling work and it will make a difference.

Thank you so much Keira and Mrs A and Sue for standing up for the rights of children to be children. You're very brave and, no matter what the outcome of the court case, you have done huge amounts Ro shine a light on a service which has put an ideology before evidence based medicine.

PenguindreamsofDraco · 09/10/2020 09:06

Well done and thank you all. Ovaries of steel, both of you.

Thank you Keira, and thank you Mrs A Flowers

BovaryX · 09/10/2020 10:38

Keira is a courageous, principled young woman and it is imperative that this matter be exposed to public and legal scrutiny. I hope she and her co complainant win the case. The article linked raises the question how can a ten year old be deemed suitable for hormone blockers?

The comments on the daily mail piece are universally critical.

And it doesn't even go into detail. Doesn't talk about sterilisation, no sex life, being on medication for life, etc.

The readers are outraged with only half the story.

I honestly think most people have got no clue about this. It's just astonishing that anyone thinks this is appropriate for children. Keira's case has highlighted and exposed this and it takes huge courage on her behalf because of all those determined to keep this subject silent.

Suffrajester · 09/10/2020 19:23

From our community of autistics, thank you so, so much. We recognise that this is disproportionately harming and sterilising autistic children and is the latest in a long line of pseudoscientific and abusive "autism cures", and not even the first time Lupron has been pushed on us (see Mark and David Geier's scheme, they had their medical licenses pulled for what they did to those children).
Thank you especially to Mother A for giving Child A the safety and support to grow up and accept her own wonderful self, as every autistic child deserves, and thank you to Sue Evans and the other Tavistock whistleblowers, and thank you to Keira Bell for leading this and being the public face of the campaign. We're all behind you. The Geiers lost their medical license, Andrew Wakefield was struck off, every time one of these quacks tries to abuse us, we eventually win, and I'm certain that this will be no different.

MumOfAutisticSons · 09/10/2020 19:51

Another mum with autistic sons immensely appreciative of everything Kiera, Mrs A and Sue Evans are doing to protect children. Both my sons were recently diagnosed as young adults, one could do with some extra support with his diagnosis but I'm terrified of him being sucked into thinking he's trans so he fits in somewhere which makes me reluctant to urge him to seek support from the NAS.
My older son is happy with who he is, I just want the younger son to be happy and see what a wonderful person he is exactly as he is.

The majority have no idea. I have spoken to friends about this situation and they honestly think I simply have to have the wrong end of the stick, they cannot believe its happening as it is. Its the same with many aspects of this.

Keira and others, you are amazing. Flowers
