I despair of the state of affairs here in Ireland sometimes...

So just, be kind, right? FFS

FFS. Although interesting that the union are fighting it

It looks like what they are talking about are individual showering rooms?

Yes, generally when people raise complaints they are trying to raise a negative. Or are women no longer allowed to make complaints seeing as we have to be positive all the time?

Even if these do end up being individual cubicles, I would feel wary as female staff getting naked in an area where male staff can access. Spy cameras are very cheap to buy and difficult to spot.

Sounds like they need to clarify the facts of what is planned first.

I worked somewhere previously that had completely single-use shower rooms, for example, with one shower and tiny changing area and a lockable door opening onto a main corridor. So apart from the potential risk of cameras, they were completely private and safe. As this was in a workplace with controlled entry (badges to get in and out), and the design of the rooms didn't make it easy to hide anything there (mostly blank or tiled walls and not many fixtures), I didn't feel that cameras were a major concern either. So something like that would potentially be fine. Mixed-sex facilities with communal areas, or single rooms that were open to anybody and had places to hide cameras, not so much!

The comment to the female employee is still Shock though!

Unfortunate for whom, this 'negativity'? That's an attempt to shame the complainant! How long until Irishwomen are tired of being reminded their feelings and fears don't count and they're somehow faulty for having them or mentioning them?

Yeah I wouldn't assume uni sex workplace shower room are safe from colleagues putting in a spy camera
