Unfortunatley didn't here all of this. But Newsnight has had to fight to get hold of a report showing concerns about GIDs are over a decade old.

Started at about 25 minutes into the programme.

Various people on Twitter saying issues raised over a 15 year period. SadSadSad I really, really hope there are some major law suits soon.

SisyphusAndTheRockOfUntidiness · 01/10/2020 23:39

Colour me surprised. This could be the final nail in the coffin of the NHS. If there is anything left after Coronavirus & Brexit.

colouringindoors · 01/10/2020 23:42

Really hope this is the nail in the coffin for GIDS and the medical affirmmodel.

caringcarer · 01/10/2020 23:57

This does not surprise me at all. Teen year are so difficult and confusing it should be screamingly obvious not to give hormone blockers or opposite sex hormones until a child has had time to adjust to all of the natural hormones in their bodies without introducing more confusion to the body.

Watching now, thanks.

I forgot my vow never to read YouTube comments. They are a major source of misinformation.

The case against the Tavistock is being heard next week. This is the one were Keira Bell will give evidence. Her own case is on hold pending the review.

Chersfrozenface · 02/10/2020 08:35

The story is currently prominent on the BBC News website, so will come to a lot of people's attention.
www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-54374165

Is this the main reason for all the recent backpedalling?

HecatesHat · 02/10/2020 08:56

Apols, I started a separate post on this. I find it mind boggling that children with past histories of sexual abuse might be put on puberty blockers for gender dysphoria?!

Siablue · 02/10/2020 09:15

This has been going on for 15 years? With all concerns swept under the carpet! I have no words.

I would be very interested in seeing how the 2005 cohort are doing now. They will be adults. We could have had good evidence. I just feel so sad.

Chersfrozenface · 02/10/2020 09:21

Nothing on the UK news page of the Guardian's website, I note.

ArabellaScott · 02/10/2020 09:27

How many children have been treated in 15 years? How many put on puberty blockers?

Rowling was completely correct when she talked about this being the next scandal.

Iamhangingin · 02/10/2020 09:47

It's heart breaking watching this. I know there is nothing we didn't already know but it seems like a perfect storm of trans lobby groups pushing their agenda, widespread lack of funding to support child/teen mental health, lack of support for those with autism, rapidly changing society etc

I does need to be looked at holistically and with so many factors at play it takes a long time to understand what and why we are at this point. I feel so sorry for the young people who have been let down, not just by GIDS but wider service.

Kantastic · 02/10/2020 10:00

someone has uploaded it to YouTube.

Does anyone know if the scope of the current review covers HOW this all became normalised? I assume not. I assume that is more a matter for an inquiry, and one of those will happen eventually.

Siameasy · 02/10/2020 10:47

Even a normal member of the public could've predicted that these kids were likely traumatised, possibly autistic. It seems to me that everyone has been groomed by this trans ideology.
I’m disappointed though that medical professionals allowed themselves to be cowed by accusations of transphobia.
I hope we are coming out the other side.

I got called transphobic the other day for mentioning Keira Bell. This was just on FB. Many ordinary members of the public have bought into this new religion. They will cling on until the bitter end

Chersfrozenface · 02/10/2020 11:45

And guess what...

The story has disappeared from the BBC News main web page.

It's not even on the London news page.

It is on the Health page. I wonder how many hits that gets.

SunsetBeetch · 02/10/2020 12:01
Shock
Melroses · 02/10/2020 12:06

It seems to me that the Tavistock are fobbing off complaints by saying

  1. They are important because there is a rising demand (and also need more money to cope with it).
  1. It is not their job to screen for co-morbidities - it is all CAMHS fault.

Wow that Newsnight YouTube clip with those various experts is really enlightening. Good on Newsnight for pursuing this.

stumbledin · 02/10/2020 14:42

The BBC news story is still there www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-54374165
