Yes, watching now Alice thanks for posting this. Excellent analysis.

Really impressive thoughtful discussion. Wish I was so articulate. Well worth watching.

This is a good listen - apart from the bits that I missed when it froze. Lots of good examples where women are being intimidated and efforts made to silence them, fear of losing jobs, if not sacked etc.

One unexpected effect that the hate crime bill is having is perhaps shedding light on what's been happening with feminism and womens rights over the past few years - how many people who aren't directly involved in feminism are aware of some of the outrageous attacks made by TRAs? And the struggles that women who speak up for women's rights have faced?

Good to hear it all being aired, and great to hear MBM and Forwomen Scotland giving their informed, articulate and measured views.

Excellent session. Really worth listening to the whole thing. Huge questions about free speech, the right to not be offended, the lack of protection for women, the disturbing lack of concern in that regard by women's groups in Scotland.

It's frightening that it's got this far. Seems to be a clear example of a particular kind of virtue-signalling which, as usual, will not help women but which will support those who wish to shut women up.

I really want to be Lucy when I grow up...

There's also this excellent thread from Malcolm Clark about the debate in Parliament. The bit with Patrick Harvie's attack on Johann Lamont is eye-popping, especially his outraged expression as he signals to himself (nasty, mean women accusing even Patrick of causing trouble!). Of course, he can't deny what he said as its a matter of public record (and he kept repeating it!), so that must fall into his idea of reasonable comment.

Thanks for the Malcolm Clark thread:

'This Bill is an embarrassment; a shoddy, dangerous, illiberal mess that's being used to advance strange culture war obsessions.'
