Coronavirus, Local Authorities and the Equality Act

I feel like my local authority and the schools within it are using Covid 19 as an excuse to shred the Equality Act 2010 with no repercussions. This relates in my family's case to sex and disability but also more widely to religious belief. Anyone else?!

A lot of council’s are acting in discriminatory ways due to Covid - taking the ‘easy way’ rather than the correct way. However the Equality Act still applies. I would start with a formal complaint

Yes, I keep complaining but my complaints are largely ignored. I sent a formal complaint to the head of children's services about the several months long disability discrimination my son has received from two different schools. Email was bounced off to the council's general complaints dept. Five days ago and nothing. I now have to do the same again re sex discrimination for my daughter and I'm starting to wonder whether there's any point. Schools and the LA are far too cosy round here to get any justice.

You have to escalate the complaint through their staged complaints process and the LGO. For your disabled son have you tried IPSEA is? They can offer advice on how to take it to Tribunal.

I have tried IPSEA but there's no way to get an appointment. Their website said to contact the head of children's services in cases like my son's, so I did.
