... or, one of these things is not like the other one.

What women’s health advice do we think the, er, odd man out, might need?

Screening for cervical cancer? Menopause advice? Help with preventing pregnancy? Endometriosis or PCOS? Access to abortion?

That's upsetting.
Marie Stopes gaslighting girls and women.
Can't we even have one week to ourselves?

Tezza1 · 08/09/2020 05:42

I'm sorry, this is just peripheral: is that the YEP which is based in Perth, Western Australia? If so, why are they using the word "GALS?"

Or am I so old that its adoption into common usage in Australia has passed me by?

The whole bloody thing is patronising and cringeworthy.

AngelicaElizaAndPeggy · 08/09/2020 05:48

Yep I find that image really upsetting actually. Like they are trying to be deliberately aggravating.
So basically, what they're saying is that anyone can be a woman if they want to. But women who are missing female parts have can only feel eligible to join in by having those parts identified in the accompanying text. I read it as:

Any man can be a woman, if they like. And, graciously, we will concede that any actual female who has a somewhat malfunctioning female body can be one too, if they like.

Don't like it.

That’s the one. As for gals - I wouldn’t know. It’s kind of old school for a youth project.

OP posts:
squeekums · 08/09/2020 06:06

Haven't seen that in SA. Would go down like a lead balloon at DD school.

Gals? Has that ever been a normal term in Aus? I've never heard it used commonplace

Thehollyandtheirony · 08/09/2020 06:23

Someone’s gone rogue with the plasticine.
An odd looking penis at a jaunty angle is not a vulva.

Tezza1 · 08/09/2020 06:34

"I've never heard it used commonplace" They wouldn't dream of using "Sheilas" – but that's Australian and, to me, more acceptable.

I remember back in the late 70s there was it a very brief use of the term chicks, but thankfully it didn't seem to catch on – or at least not in the circles in which I mixed.

Tezza1 · 08/09/2020 06:40

Sorry, again I'm going completely off topic, but it reminds me of Norman Gunston and his phrase "Hi there you funky dudes and foxy chicks." So, in retrospect, we probably used the word chicks derisively.

Anyway, sorry, and I will stop derailing your post, which is extremely important.

DancelikeEmmaGoldman · 08/09/2020 06:50

I just had this moment where I thought, “are we really, in 2020, having to discuss whether women have penises?” How did we reach this point of complete batshittery?

OP posts:
Bmidreams · 08/09/2020 06:51

Cock and balls. As if.

ahumanfemale · 08/09/2020 06:55

So what does Marie Stopes do if someone with a penis comes in requesting abortion counselling or pills? For themselves, because they're a woman. Do they actually waste their time and see that person to validate their true self rather than see a woman who is pregnant and stressed?

imhereforthesanity · 08/09/2020 07:39

Is this for real? It has youth mentioned, is it material for children?

Kit19 · 08/09/2020 07:43

Jesus fucking Christ

how are these ppl not utterly embarrassed at themselves? Men do not need abortions

This is abuse. Pure and simple.

It's utterly insane.

So baffling to watch a segment of society literally lose touch with reality.

DancelikeEmmaGoldman · 08/09/2020 08:16

If it’s any consolation to Australians, the Jean Hailes Foundation still have a handle on who has periods, pregnancy and menopause.

I used to have to wait to get my appointment at Marie Slopes in Sydney. I guess the appointment times just got that little bit more competitive..... and for what services exactly?

Or .... is the penis supposed to be one that is created for a transman?

Winesalot · 08/09/2020 08:52

And I used to go to Marie Slopes/FPA because they were female doctors and nurses. Does this mean that their policy for employing women only has changed? That you can be a transwoman and be employed in women only services?

I relied on FPA/Marie Slopes as a young person. This would have made those years very difficult if it hadn’t been a female doctor or nurse.

SunsetBeetch · 08/09/2020 09:02

I am SO FUCKING SICK of this bullshit Angry

Sexnotgender · 08/09/2020 09:03

Urgh, that’s so grim.

inthebleakmidwinteriwouldsing · 08/09/2020 09:11

No vulva shaped penises then? Quelle surprise!

Indeed. Bigots.

I don't know about Australia, but British institutions are riddled with this nonsense. Transwomen can 'affirm their femininity' by working in all kinds of women's services, including shelters for survivors of rape or domestic violence. Too bad if their presence deters traumatised women from using the service.

Gwynfluff · 08/09/2020 09:30

Especially odd in the penis picture as the biggest rise in teens is female to male transition.
