So the Lib Dems reverted back to type after the Jo Swinson fiasco. Nice, safe, dependable, white, male, middle-aged, middle-class Sir Ed Davey.

Although tbf, Layla Moran is, well ...

Last time I spoke to my Lib Dem counsellor friend the whole party was behind Jo. They wanted a woman in charge. Layla must be pretty unpopular to have undone that narrative.

Last I checked, she was advocating votes for eleven-year-olds. Really.

I had hoped LM would win - to hasten the demise of the LDems - however they now have a male leader demanding women be kind and let adult males define what a woman is and have access into singles sex spaces/sport.

The optics of male ED doing this will be far worse than JS.

Yeah, apart from women Ed, just label them transphobic and ignore them.

The 3 main parties in England lead by middle aged white men 2 of whom have been knighted. Not that I think Layla would have been any better

It's such a shame that the LDs have become the party of the ultra-woke. We have a great LD MP - so hard-working, responsive to local issues and always speaks up for this area (unlike the useless Con we used to have). But I cannot vote for the trans bullshit!

When women say this they look naive. When men say this they look creepy - like perhaps they'd like women to let them in, too. Or homophobic and exclusionary - as though they think feminine men aren't 'real men', so should be thought of as women.

@PaleBlueMoonligh You've crystallised why I gave up my membership a few months ago. I sent them a letter explaining why but not expecting a reply. Lo, an email popped into my inbox a few days later from some Lib Dem from London telling me that the Lib Dems would always fight for trans rights. Well, there, I thought. Best for everyone that they and me parted company. No regrets.

I also resigned my membership of the LDems before the last election - It took numerous emails for them to stop contacting me - national/London/constituency groups etc.

Each email included the words ‘women don’t have penises’. Lunacy.
