Minor family moan about invisible women

'Well she certainly doesn't get it from our side of the family' - my Dad, referring to dd2s excellent GCSE results. Erm, Dad? Remember your dd1 who has two degrees, one a first and comparable GCSE and A level results? Or your dd2 who is an Oxbridge educated academic??!
But because dbro and ddad and now ds1 have not done so well in exams or academia (but still all successful), 'not from our side of the family'. Talk about invisible and unrecognised.

"Yes, I must have got it from Mum to pass it on to them."

Indeed, mum was a very able high flying business woman in her former life (went secretarial school route at first) and maternal grandma was a school head.

Is your dad sexist?

aliasundercover · 23/08/2020 17:35

Maybe 'our side of the family' means the male side?

JurgenKloppsCat · 23/08/2020 18:01

So when you pointed this out, what did he say?

ScrapThatThen · 23/08/2020 19:23

On reflection it's more a typical self deprecating comment about himself and his ancestors not his daughters or ex wife, but I have noticed there's more focus on dbro career wise and on me child rearing wise. Tbh I never quite work out what ddad actually means so I won't place much importance on it.

Well that was a quick resolution Grinare you sure you're not 'livid' or 'raging' OP?
(Well done your DD by the way).
