I find this so depressing. I absolutely understand why sportswomen feel they can’t speak out about their treatment but how will things ever change unless people are called out on this?

That is a depressing article and unfortunately unfortunately that I’m not surprised by. You only have to look at the way trans inclusion in women’s sports is treated by the male dominated authorities to realise how little regard they have for women’s sport.
I recently read Nicole Cooke and Lizzie Armistead’s autobiographies. There’s quite a few years between each athletes careers but the books show how little has changed in the culture at British Cycling. Despite having the women’s World Champion in their ranks, the women’s team were an afterthought in terms of coaching, kit and support.
Interestingly both athletes abandoned their allocated (inadequate) coaches and started coaching themselves with considerable success.

Its sad but not surprising.
There is an ingrained level of sexism out there that's still affecting women in a lot of areas that's largely ignored by society.
Women are still just expected to deal with it.
