What is going on at The Guardian?

An investigation into why the Guardian has been negligent on the matter of women's rights turns up a lot of interesting connections. Parents should pay particular attention to the information about the MAP, who offer counselling to children as young as 11 in schools across the country. grahamlinehan.substack.com/p/its-a-racket-folks

This is an important piece, thanks for highlighting it.

OhHolyJesus · 26/07/2020 16:26

Bloody hell.

NeurotrashWarrior · 26/07/2020 16:52

Well bloody hell, they've got it more sewn up than Gove, Cummings and Boris.

Connect the dots...

Anonymum263 · 26/07/2020 17:05

Very interesting.

ListeningQuietly · 26/07/2020 17:05

I need to talk to Glinner

ErrolTheDragon · 26/07/2020 17:08

Wow... follow the money indeed.

Collidascope · 26/07/2020 17:13

Paul Hamlyn is neck-deep in this stuff then.

OldCrone · 26/07/2020 17:47

This all seems to be based on Anthony Salz being on the board of the Scott Trust as well as the Paul Hamlyn Foundation. There are currently 14 people on the board of the Scott Trust, but Anthony Salz resigned as a director in March this year.

I haven't noticed any changes in the Guardian since March.

JamieLeeCurtains · 26/07/2020 17:49

I wonder if journalists like Carole Cadwalladr are aware of this.

Imnobody4 · 26/07/2020 18:01

Very disturbing

NeurotrashWarrior · 26/07/2020 18:01

This Antony Saltz, school governor?

CousinKrispy · 26/07/2020 18:34

Holy heck.

stumbledin · 26/07/2020 18:43

Glad mumsnet got some credit I remember reading about this on a thread a while ago and thinking if I had had the slightest hope that the Guardian would become a newspaper again not a single issue campaign newsletter, I realised it never would.

You would have thought that the charities commission or something would investigate whether someone was using trust fund money basically for political purposes.

I wonder if the telegraph might pick up on this. They are quite good at investigating conflicts of interest.

highame · 26/07/2020 18:50

Oh Hell, this is truly staggering. It's like something out of a spy novel....you couldn't make it up.

RoyalCorgi · 26/07/2020 18:51

The stuff about the Paul Hamlyn foundation and the organisations it funds is very interesting, but I think it's incredibly unlikely that a single member of the Scott Trust, who also happens to be a member of the foundation, has very much influence over Guardian editorial policy.

I think if they can fire the editor, it's significant

OP posts:
NeurotrashWarrior · 26/07/2020 19:35

I hope it's not actually that significant in reality (in terms of, he's good at organising legal executive stuff and not actually influencing policy with his own ideas - I'm shit with the language here) as he is also a non-executive board member at the department for Education. What ever that means.

NeurotrashWarrior · 26/07/2020 19:37

The Paul Hamlyn links are very concerning.

Glinner · 26/07/2020 19:38

Let's put it this way, SOMETHING is preventing The Guardian from reporting honestly on this issue. This is one possible explanation for their extraordinary negligence.

OP posts:
highame · 26/07/2020 19:41

For me it's the abandonment of women's rights. I just can't explain it unless there's been influence

rednsparkley · 26/07/2020 19:42

😮🤬 Bloody Hell 🤬🤬

No Salz is at the dfe.

JamieLeeCurtains · 26/07/2020 19:50

Well there's been been something quite disturbing going on at the Guardian for a while. I have been amazed at K Viner's commissioning OJ's (many) words without allowing any proportionate right of reply.
