Long time lurker, have had my eyes progressively opened by this board & am becoming more & more (quietly) passionate about the issues raised here.
Have just seen this on a friend's FB- she was annoyed enough to share it and it's riled me enough to post for the first time!
Her & her husband both got sent Lakeland catalogues today.
Can you guess who's is who's?!
I'm going to write to Lakeland! Not quite sure what to say, my job is vaguely marketing related so I do understand targeted advertising but are we in the 50s still? Cunts.

What the hell is wrong with ppl? Why is this bad? It's just advertising. It's not mandatory that you -as a woman- have to carry around cleaning stuff. I think in general people just like to be riled up about something that is totally inconsequential.
This should not be given "issue" status by actually talking about it.
no-trade deals, brexit, no reporting on data (be it virus, taxpayer's money,...) is the issue. not a friggin ad.

And someone pls. enlighten me: if it was the same way around wouldn't you lot be going on about how a woman's place is not in the kitchen cooking??? What would you want to see here?

TornadoOfSouls · 24/07/2020 21:49

It's waffles with a scoop of ice cream
Thanks, I hate it

Tana433 · 24/07/2020 22:33

i used to work for Lakeland and i can assure you it is totally random and not targeted. The insides of the catalogue are exactly the same just two different covers representing the basis of what we sell or are known for selling ie cooking, baking and cleaning items. I think you are reading far too much into it.

lakeswimmer · 24/07/2020 22:40

Why would one household need two catalogues?

I'm not sure I can get too bothered about this. Overall DH does more cooking than me, we do equal amounts of cleaning, and I do more laundry than him. Both DH and I have worked as cleaners and teen DS has a weekend cleaning job. Cleaning isn't a female activity in our household.

rednsparkley · 24/07/2020 22:42

I'm female and I got the cooking one too. I passed at least an hour merrily circling things I have no intention of buying 😂😂

@TheSunIsStillShining
I whole heartily agree , !

Hahahahaha! This was too funny not to screenshot and post. It had to be the girly Lego with the super feminine figure petting a panda too. Grin (Click on the image to read the preceding post for the full effect.)

I do the cooking he does the cleaning in our house!

I don't know why you are assuming the gender of either of the people on the covers to be honest OP

How have you come to the conclusion that the cook isn't in fact a woman, and the cleaner isn't a man?

I think you'll find that the "man" is a non-binary rainbow unicorn dolphin, actually Wink

I was more unimpressed by the assertion that "the cleaning practically does itself" on mine. I buy lakeland cleaning products and I can assure you that they do not magically clean anything without me Angry

AlCalavicci · 27/07/2020 10:09

@MysteryParcels
I agree I put a bottle of oven cleaner in the oven and left it to it , a hr later I came back and the bottle had not moved , lazy swine that it is ! Grin
TBF though when used properly it is without a doubt the best oven cleaner I have used so I can forgive its laziness

socialworker222 · 27/07/2020 16:37

My ex used to wibble on about cooking but never offered to clean.. it's a bit more of a performance activity isn't it, round of applause and all that. Unlike for the person who cleans the bath...

Alltheprettyseahorses · 27/07/2020 19:20

I'd have preferred the cleaning version. Apart from the yearly blitz I don't actually do any cleaning apart from emptying the bin and the odd hoover but I like looking at cleaning products and watching my favourite cleaning vloggers and fantasise happily about wafting around my spotless zooflora house waving the spray mop around even though I'd never be arsed to do all that shite.

See I don’t know, I really loved that Mr Hinch book.
