Link doesn't take me anywhere?

The Centre For Women's Justice are amazing, and indefatigable. They are an absolute lifeline for many women, and they represent all of our interests with such commitment, on such a slight budget. They've been relentless over the effective decriminalisation of rape, and they're effecting change, bit by bit.

Barbara Ellen is great. But as she says, we need to reserve judgement until August, when we see what the new version holds.

The comments are... as expected, sadly. Some men are very triggered by any mention of rape.

wellbehavedwomen · 18/07/2020 21:02

That's a Facebook link. Try this?

MsMarvellous · 18/07/2020 21:23

Thanks. I'm glad it's gone but I fear what comes next. We need a top down redesign of how we handle and prosecute rape but in our society that's unlikely.

The Centre For Women's Justice are on it.

Honestly, people were asking which charities to support. As feminist ones in the UK go, this is a really good bet.

Strewth, wellbehavedwomen, the evidence on that Centre for Women's Justice link is horrifying.

Powerful Evidence Of CPS Failure On Rape Handed To Government Inquiry
[...]
The evidence bundle includes (3):
• the detailed statement of a CPS whistle-blower which sets out how the CPS secretly chose to change their policy on charging rape cases, with the catastrophic collapse in charging that resulted
• a dossier of 20 women’s rape cases which the CPS decided not to charge, including a woman held at knifepoint, a woman whose rape was filmed and video found on suspects phone, multiple cases involving mobile phone messages where the suspect admitted to the offence and another where CPS gave the fact that the survivor had “enjoyed an adventurous sex life” as a reason not to charge.

Here's the Barbara Ellen article, for those who missed the link correction above:

The 'digital strip search' has gone, but rape survivors still live in fear

Yes, it is. 1.5% of cases reported - REPORTED - to police resulted in charges last year.

A series of 20 testimonies by women and girls’ whose complaints did not result in a prosecution include a lesbian who was allegedly raped by a stranger, and women who said they were threatened with knives and guns.

A woman who alleged that a man had raped her at gunpoint was told in a CPS letter that the weapon “was not a serious threat” during the alleged attack, and that the man may have thought she consented.

Rape has been decriminalised. In fact, if not in law.

Thanks for the link corrections! Not sure what happened there.
