Bras

This might sound ridiculous, but can anyone suggest a bra which is actually designed with the female body in mind?!
I don’t want underwire, I don’t want frills, I don’t want them up to my chin... just something comfortable and supportive. After feeding two children they aren’t very comfy just hanging lose and would get in the way a tad to be honest (serious dangling) and we are quite active out and about.
I know it might seem odd to ask here but most googling leads me to frilly push up bras and that’s just not what I am after. Are there any bras designed by women?

I wear "bralettes" rather than bras now as I find them much more comfortable. I like that I can just pull them over my head and they don't have any metal or plastic bits to dig in to you. They're probably better for women with smaller boobs though so not sure if they would work for you.

TheSnowQueen · 13/07/2020 20:50

Molke?

midgebabe · 13/07/2020 20:51

Second molke

nitgel · 13/07/2020 20:52

Muji and uniqlo bra are nice they don't go up huge sizes tho and are probably designed by robots.

PotholeParadise · 13/07/2020 20:58

I favour sports bras and Shock Absorber.

HopeClearwater · 13/07/2020 21:03

Just a couple of hours before you posted, OP, I was cutting the lace detail off a bra of mine, in a fury ...

Shahlalala · 13/07/2020 21:05

@HopeClearwater I would burn them but it feels a bit cliche. Plus the underwire wouldn’t burn....

Thanks all, I shall have a look. I read an article about car safety being designed based on a male body and this bra search has pushed me over the edge.

I bought this recently ..it is incredibly comfortable and supportive

OhHolyJesus · 13/07/2020 21:15

I wear bralettes like twoHopes and softer, less structured sports bras.

I'm still boycotting M&S so it's HM all the way! Will come back for more beans to try though.

Nacreous · 13/07/2020 21:18

I like urban outfitters bralet (wouldn't ever think of them normally) and it's very comfy

I wear a medium and am a size 14.

Alternatively I also like the M and S sumptuously soft non wired bra:

Hmm, have you considered you might be Trans?

ScrimpshawTheSecond · 13/07/2020 23:21

Molke gave me horrible headaches. They just don't work for bigger boobs.

BuffaloCauliflower · 13/07/2020 23:24

I mostly live in Molke, but also, are you sure you’re wearing the right size? The wrong size will be uncomfortable whatever you do and whatever bra you choose! Different styles and brands fit differently, and different shaped and sized boobs need different scaffolding!

Give this a go for a starting size booborbust.com/

BuffaloCauliflower · 13/07/2020 23:25

@ScrimpshawTheSecond are you sure you were in the right size? I know women in 36Ks who are very comfortable in Molkes

ScrimpshawTheSecond · 13/07/2020 23:28

Yes, I tried a few sizes. They pull on the back of my neck. And smoosh everything together too much. I wanted them to work!

teenmumandsowhat · 13/07/2020 23:41

I’m Definitely another one who recommends Molke, i can’t comfortably wear underwire and they are the only brand I have found that is comfortable and supportive and not made of an itchy cheap fabric

GreenJumpers · 13/07/2020 23:45

I have given up on underwire. I wear m&s no underwire

bonzo77 · 13/07/2020 23:49

Sugar Candy or Crush bras by a brand called Cake. Bravissimo do them. Supremely comfortable. No frills. No wire. No seams. Adequate support. Disappears under clothes. Not up to the chin. No eye-catching cleavage. Total Unicorn Bra for me.

Shmithecat2 · 13/07/2020 23:49

Those Molke bras looks as effective as chocolate fire guards Confused.

OP, measure yourself with the Boob or Bust calculator and go from there. The right size/correctly fitted bra shouldn't be uncomfortable.

Alisonjabub · 13/07/2020 23:58

Consider going to a pro fitter. Cost a bit more but well worth the extra comfort and quality to have someone who can tailor you a specific fit.

ErrolTheDragon · 14/07/2020 00:02

Confused indeed to calling a nursing bra 'Hotmilk'.

Bras are a very individual preference, of course - I quite like an underwire so long as the fit and fabric are good (not scratchy lace or bumpy decorations). But I'm wearing my Shock Absorbers a lot at the moment - not the compressive high impact type.

It's not a ridiculous question at all, OP. A well-fitting properly supportive bra is a tool of women's liberation - freedom to run, jump etc.Grin

Flexifit by M+S is actually completely fab.
Never thought I'd say that.

Pacif1cDogwood · 14/07/2020 00:06

Errol, I have 2 Hotmilk maternity nighties that I shall wear until they fall apart (DS4 is 10 years old...) and they are brilliant, however I could only bear wearing them once I had removed the labels. Ridunculous.

LonnyVonnyWilsonFrickett · 14/07/2020 00:16

Looking at the big group pic on the 'about us' section of the molke website - I can't work out if everyone's boobs are sagging like wet nappies or if it's just my patriarchal male-gaze fuelled image of how boobs should look.
