So, you're either new to the rough and tumble of feminist discourse, or you've been knocking about these parts for quite a while. You're feeling bruised and downcast because of the ongoing, relentless nature of sexism and woman-hatred in our culture, and you're wondering what hope there is?

Take heart from my 15 year old daughter, who has developed a taste during lockdown, for engaging in online discussions about women's rights online. This evening, she had a long back and forth about the statistics around rape, and how important women's clear boundaries were, and when the other people involved started using personal insults, she wrote "I have made my case, and you can agree or disagree. But to demonstrate to you what a clear boundary is, I am going to block you, and you can observe what it is to hear a firm no. Please take that knowledge into the rest of your life."

Next generation, wims. We keep going!

I recently watched The Keepers on Netflix and it made me realise how easy it was in the past for men in power to abuse teenage girls with impunity, when girls were conditioned not to be assertive, not to question men and basically, not to have boundaries.

So well done on raising a young girl who knows her own mind and can enforce her boundaries. This could quite literally be a lifesaver for her one day.
