I am Leo - new(ish) video

Just watched this. Obvs this is a child.

Here Leo talks about being affirmed at the first appointment at the Tavi (and put on PBs?) and how Press for Change were in contact with the school to "make them" treat Leo like a boy, and how Leo uses the boys toilets at school.

The video is 3 months old, (I fwd a bit last the beginning) I was looking for something recent to see how Leo was doing. Leo appears very confident and appears to want to raise Leo's own profile by doing more documentaries.

Interesting claim there that after the first appointment the Taco said, yeah you're a boy, you're trans.

Barracker · 07/07/2020 01:52

*Tavi.

Although a Taco would speak more sense

Poor kid.

I hope the parents at least stop the kid doing more irreversible harm to their body before they hit adulthood.

This film is 4 years old (as are all the films about Leo), so Leo is now 19 or 20. We don't hear from Leo any more. I wonder if Leo now regrets it? Interesting, the part about how all of the staff at school were convinced the mother was pushing it (as she had all daughters), and the GP correctly said that Leo would probably grow up to be a lesbian (Leo is now same-sex attracted). It was CAHMS and social services who over rode the school and GP and sent Leo off to the Tavistock who affirmed the trans identity at the first appointment without investigating whether the mother was pushing it, the same-sex attraction etc. Just affirmation and no watchful waiting. The CBBC documentary 'I am Leo' contains shocking footage of Polly Carmichael, leader of the Tavistock, outrageously claiming that puberty blockers are "irreversible". These children have been utterly failed by these virtue signalling doctors, social workers and mental health workers.

The other element in these stories is the pressure being on tv. It's part of their identity. More films and invites are made based on the interesting fact that they've transitioned; not so interesting that they decided not to.

NeurotrashWarrior · 07/07/2020 06:40

"Research on the Internet."

"Brains didn't match their bodies."

HeistSociety · 07/07/2020 06:54

Sad.

nancybotwinbloom · 07/07/2020 07:02

Did Leo fully transition? As in had the operation or do we not know?

Leo just seems swept away with the process.

The last bbc documentary shows Leo agonising over what to do but does start taking testosterone at age 16, and makes the decision to save eggs. Whether Leo continued it's not clear.,

ahumanfemale · 07/07/2020 09:10

I stopped listening to Leo after the first minute or so. I'd begin to subconsciously count the number of time "I" or "me" was said.

Interesting the tone of the guy introducing Leo. The stress on "Leo KNEW". Made me think think that some trans kids are on the receiving end of adults' almost religious idolatry of them. Aside from unnecessary medical interventions, I can't think of much worse for the developing mind of an adolescent.

ThinEndoftheWedge · 07/07/2020 09:27

I had to stop watching after this at the beginning:

‘At 15 he is preparing to start taking testosterone to continue his puberty as a male’

He is female.

The crowd is delighted.

I didn't realise it was that old, I found it interesting though.

I took from it that Leo has two older sisters and one young sister so a family full of girls. I realise this was mentioned but I was thinking about the mother and how, if as claimed, the school called social services there must have been solid safeguarding concerns, I don't think having a family of daughters is a good enough reason, I'm sure there was more to it than that! The GP and the school seemed to act responsibly, but I think how awful it must have been for a mother to have social services called, if she was simply trying her best and was manipulated by her child and then CAHMs go and refer at 11?!

I was also thinking about a 15 year old taking injections to stimulate ovaries to retrieve eggs, prior to taking synthetic hormones. That is just an onslaught of drugs to a young body. Those eggs will be frozen before being fertilised obviously and if Leo doesn't want to get pregnant, a woman's womb will be required to carry and grow a foetus from Leo's egg.

So Big Pharma make a mint and the fertility clinics will be making a few bucks.
