I really enjoyed this.

Yes that is good, and she got it in The Guardian!

Suzanne Moore has been a good one to follow on Twitter lately.

RummidgeGeneral · 03/07/2020 16:20

Hallelujah Suzanne Moore. Perhaps all is not lost with The Guardian? I had stopped buying it.

highame · 03/07/2020 16:33

Liked that one. Just hope those in power are reading this stuff

PenguindreamsofDraco · 03/07/2020 16:49

In one of the Thursday Next books she comes across a load of characters in Enid Blyton (yes really Grin) who need emotion like a fix, ending up stoned on outrage, shame, joy etc. This article reminded me of that, the short-lived high of being on the right side and then the need for more more more.

I think it is brilliant so reasonable. You will never be able to agree with everyone on everything.

They have disabled comments on it. I also noticed that Hadley Freeman snuck in a line about JKR in her column. Also no comments allowed.

Interesting. I think someone on another thread said she's friends with Damian Barr (as is Janice Turner). If so, good of her to speak out at the potential cost of a friendship - that would have been hard.

ScrimpshawTheSecond · 03/07/2020 17:25

Yes, excelllent article.,

the mundane truth that people may think differently from each other. Difference is not hate.

Quite.

wellbehavedwomen · 03/07/2020 17:27

I'm so glad she is still published in the Guardian.

midgebabe · 03/07/2020 17:38

That was nice

derta · 03/07/2020 22:41

Didn't expect to read that in the Guardian.

SnowsInWater · 03/07/2020 22:48

Thanks for the links, both really interesting articles.

ASmallMovie · 03/07/2020 23:06

Thank god for Suzanne Moore, the lone voice left at The Guardian campaigning for the sex-based rights of girls and women. Love her work.

Buryit · 03/07/2020 23:08

It's nice to be reminded that there's more to the Guardian than Owen Jones. I stopped buying it a few years ago.

NotTerfNorCis · 03/07/2020 23:21

It's great that the Guardian published this. They wouldn't have done two or three years ago. It shows they're standing up to bullying from their American counterpart as well.

HeistSociety · 04/07/2020 00:26

Loved both articles, Hadley's and Suzanne's.

Really appreciated Hadley's emphasis on class.

Goosefoot · 04/07/2020 02:24

That was pretty good, I don't enjoy most of her stuff, but she really made all the most important points about this.

Random63638 · 04/07/2020 07:45

I'm going to politely disagree with Suzanne, you are never better off with poppers. Horrible things.

ludog · 04/07/2020 09:07

"You can't cancel my right to think", exactly!👏👏

Carriemac · 04/07/2020 09:31

Excellent article

Al1Langdownthecleghole · 04/07/2020 09:45

@ludog

"You can't cancel my right to think", exactly!👏👏
That needs to go on a T-shirt.
JKRisagryff · 04/07/2020 10:58

Brilliant, I’m shocked to read this in the guardian especially the line about people wanting to see her cancelled.

I’m feeling more and more hopeful everyday.

Dicotyledon · 04/07/2020 14:11

Glad I’m not the only one who thinks that about poppers. Did an essay about them at xi form after using. Yes, there is a reason they give you a headache. It is not nice.
