If you thought 50 Shades of Grey was bad, check out 365 Days. The tag line reads

A woman falls victim to a dominant Mafia boss who imprisons her and gives her one year to fall in love.

This is currently trending as number 5 in the UK today.

If you don't want to have to actually watch the movie here is a review. Its bad. Really really bad.

I can't believe that shit lile this is not only produced but promoted as if this is totally fine and normal. We have a generation so passionate about social justice that they are marching in the streets for racial equality during the middle of a pandemic. Meanwhile mega corporations make big bucks out of story lines normalising rape and abduction. How is this allowed!?

This is part one of a three part trilogy.

There must be something we can do about this? I am beyond shocked. We have such an abysmal track record when it comes to rape convictions it's practically decriminalised. With films like this around is it any wonder?

What can be done? Any suggestions?

I've already cancelled my Neflix account and my Amazon Prime. So sick of the abuse of women not only being normalised but also commercialised.

What's horrifying is that this movie and another called 'Love' has a full on appreciation society on tiktok from mainly teenagers and young adults.

It's the normalisation of coercive control and is documented as a love story.

I honestly think if you want to understand Gen Z culture on alot of feminist topics you need to spend some time on tiktok, fucking eye opening.

I started to watch this after hearing the hype and quite honestly I cannot believe it was made and aired. I honestly thought it was totally shocking, that this is acceptable entertainment. It's not even the sex scenes, it's the whole premise that abduction and sexual assult is desirable and sexy. Backing up the idea that no really does mean yes.

As a younger woman I used to think feminism had done it's job. What an idiot I was.

It is rape culture personified. How many jurors will have this in their mind at trial?

Everybody talking about it because it’s really bad though. Wait until it’s up for any best film awards around the globe to get worried.

As PP have pointed out, this does speak to a wider issue around coercive control among Gen Z. I have a younger brother and have had pretty in depth conversations with him about the normalisation of dangerous power imbalances in relationships.

There seems to be a real confusion amongst Gen Z about what consent means. The way my brother described it was - if you've agreed to something then you've consented and therefore it's your responsibility. So if, for example, your boyfriend tells you he wants to have sex with someone else then, as long as you consent, it's fine. If you agree to be choked or slapped during sex then you've consented so it's fine. That's why they see sex work as a "choice" that some women make. There's no analysis there of coersion or of basic respect/empathy for another human.
