He’s a peach isn’t he? I’m not even sure if those are his pronouns 🤦🏻‍♀️

How dare you. You absolute horror, Lloyd Russel-Mole. That's just from the headline, I need to step back now before I say something really rude.

What a repulsive bastard. I pity the women in his life.

Scrimp you can say something rude - that's not against the guidelines Wine Grin

Yes, I know, Redshoe, I'm trying to rise above! Thanks, though, Wine definitely helps.

  • always think women who say this to other women about sport have either
  • never played any sport to any standard,
  • have no female loved one who play sport,
  • are unleashing revenge for the fact that they were never picked first in games,
  • have no idea how women have had a bloody hard struggle to get any kind of representation/recognition/sponsorship/publicity in most mainstream sport, and are still trying to do so,

- have no knowledge of rudimentary biology and therefore are too thick for public office
- simply do not have any imagination or empathy for girls and women for whom sport may be their only outlet/way of progress in life.*

Have no idea how to repost previous comments now?

But this is spot on. Many of my friends are awesome intelligent people but they have Male children. Texted some news re a GC positive news and her actual reply was "what has this got to do with me?". I was so angry. A friendship of 10 years. My girls in mine and extended family play sports at competition level / fuck that if they have to compete against men

Brilliant video, thanks for sharing.
I'm livid to hear about Kate Green's views but can someone please tell me what GC stands for? It's too late to rack my brains anymore

@cakeandcustard "How do you explain to a six year old the biological reality of her sex?"

Yes and no. There is biological reality, and then there are the contests people put on tv, the things that define what's interesting and admirable and worth watching. Those are social definitions, not biological facts.

The contests are all about strength and speed. Well, surprise, surprise, those are things men are good at. They win at those things, so those are the things we hear about and are told are admirable.

Men can't perform some of the maneuvers in women's gymnastics. They would lose. Women tend to win ultra-high-endurance events.

If you're wondering why you've never heard of that (assuming you haven't), remember step one. Decide what gets to be admired, and talk about that.

So explain to your daughter it's not her biological reality that has a problem. It's society.

@quixote9 Exactly what I discussing with DH this morning. Sports where women excel aren't generally taken as seriously. Funny that.

GC - gender critical

Unless you're on the Other Side, in which case it simultaneously means both gender critical and gender conforming. Which as we can see confuses them rather.

"How do you explain to a six year old the biological reality of her sex?"

My 6 yo knows that she is of the sex that can bear children. Obviously not couched in those terms, but she's pretty clear about male and female. And what the differences are, and what is societal construct (dress, fashion, hair style, colours, toys, jobs, etc).

Why would him holding James O Brian by the hair and re-recording it be even better?

"How do you explain to a six year old the biological reality of her sex?"

This is a doddle, isn't it? I mean, the bit I found hardest was getting it into soundbites of under three seconds' duration, because mine never really got the hang of the whole "attention span" business, but the "males and females have different undercarriages because they have different jobs to do in the actual creating of a baby" part really wasn't that hard.

I'm not pushing the sociological reality aspect too hard just yet, but the concept of sexist stereotypes was pretty simple to explain too.

Seen Jonathan Pie live a few times, he's great, calls out the zealous idiots on all sides left/right, remain/leave.

Id have said women are less disadvantaged in endurance events. They don't win more often than men do.

I also think women's gymnastics are considered at least as big as men's. Same with skating. But women aren't going to do as well in a strength contest.
