Keep in mind the Trafford Centre was built in 1996 and opened in 1998. Its not a victorian issue but one very much routed in modern thinking.

Ever noticed something weird about all the naked statues at the Trafford Centre?

The intu Trafford Centre boasts plenty of Greco-Roman statues, with a recurring theme...

It's quite possible the Trafford Centre will go into administration today with an uncertain future too.

Wee bit of an unbalance

Are they still protesting Churchill's statue while ignoring racist sexually abusive Gandhi?

Interesting - and both biased and not very authentic.. when I stayed in Rome I used to walk past the Stadio dei Marmi for example which was surrounded by largely naked, muscular bloke statues. In fact Rome was choc-full of naked blokes as well as women, not the bias shown above at all.

I was talking about statues of women yesterday, after reading about the call for more diversity.

I found this report from the 2018:

www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-43884726

The fact that there were/are only a small percentage of statues of named women was no surprise of course. The article also noted though that when the statues are of fictional or allegorical figures, the men tend to be soldiers whereas the women are nudes or nymphs.

So once again, the women are naked and the men are clothed.
