Free school meals

I've seen the media reports about the Govt decision to continue to provide the free school meals over the summer. This is obviously to be welcomed.

Seeing the interview with the footballer who referenced his mother working several jobs and still sometimes not having enough money to feed her children, got me thinking.

Why on earth are single parents (mainly women) continuing to be in this position? Where are all the fathers (it is mainly men before a smart arse says NAMALT) when their children don't have enough to eat.

We should be more angry about this as a society surely?

I know there have been 100s of women fighting for this, there have been lots of us campaigning in the last few months.

I'm pissed off that a man takes the credit.

Isn't that always the way!

Hey, don’t knock Marcus Rashford as a man taking the credit. He saw his moment. Black footballer , who had the profile to raise the issue - good on him.
I don’t think he took the credit’ . What’s more anger inducing is that until a male spoke up, our government chose to ignore the issue.

Was just going to post the same DreamersandWishers. Marcus Rashford has been working on this for months too.

He has a huge social media following and used it to ask people to tweet their MP.

It's not his fault that governments only seem to listen to big social media campaigns now, instead of developing coherent policies.

Whoever is responsible for getting this agreed (and I think the Labour Party are also claiming credit) it's a good result. But I do wonder why there's not more anger at the absent parent allowing a child to go without.

How much better would those kids lives be if both parents had to contribute
