Not giving a link.

But have taken this info from WPUK about complaining to IPSO about this and the other hate filled stories.

They say: If you have been concerned by the way news papers and websites have reported on JK Rowling's statements please consider complaining to IPSO

You might also consider writing to Oliver Dowden MP, Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media & Sports. His email is [email protected]

Have you actually read the article?

Rowling was called a liar by blue ticks and manga pics alike on Twitter.

Not only has The Sun put the likes of Owen Jones on the back foot by getting the arsehole to admit it, but then got witnesses to say howbad it was.

They also used the opportunity to expose the entire story to the non woke, the millions of whom read the Sun and probably don't believe Bob from the building site can be called Lucinda just because he fancies it.

People are also slagging off the Daily Mail for carrying the story even though it is also apparently quite good (I'll read it in a minute, haven't had a chance yet).

stumbledin · 12/06/2020 15:53

I haven't read the article and did wonder if whether consciously or just after click bait had verified her story.

But DV charities are pointing out that with just that stark headline that is hard to miss when queuing at the checkout or whatever would find that statement very unerving.

Shouty headlines have a tendancy to create the opposite effect to the one indtended.

The Sun has a massive readership. The people sharing the photo while simultaneously telling you not to read it, like little OJ are trying to stop people from reading an article that points out in plain English what the hell is happening. Sadly, even many DV charities are spouting "TWAW" and can't be trusted on that point. If the picture itself was so distasteful and triggering to JKR herself why would they share it at all? I do think a lot of people and charities that are good and do their best will jump to conclusions because it's the Sun but sometimes you have to look beyond the headline. That was the actual cover so people who buy it will see the whole story.

stumbledin · 12/06/2020 16:57

But at the expense of the women who are traumatised by the cover.

And do you honestly think the average Sun reader is going to read the article or just remember the headline.

They could have added something like "unrepentant bully" or something.

And on one level doesnt help, because it isn't just about women who have had direct experience of male violence. It just feeds into the JKR is a victim no wonder she feeels that way.

EX'S SICK TAUNT JK Rowling’s abusive first husband admits he slapped her but says ‘I’m not sorry’
Is the online headline. Pretty much says "unrepentant bully" doesn't it?

Of course, I expect Sun readers to read the paper though, they've literally purchased it for that purposes Hmm That's why they've put it on the cover. Not everyone who picks up the sun is an idiot and it's a bit offensive to imply it. A lot of people pick it up because it's a quick read on the train or in a hairdresser or it was in the breakroom at work.

The Sun newspaper is read by an astounding 2.6million Brits every day, and a whopping 29million rely on us digitally for news each month

I was abused, I am not traumatised by the cover. I'm aware male violence exists, it's the cover of just about every newspaper daily. At least on this occasion, they haven't dressed it up as her fault because of (insert spurious reason here) as they usually do.

And no, I'm not a SUN reader so no, you can't just dismiss my opinion either. I have never purchased a copy in my life. But what's an acceptable newspaper to read?

I like The Times but not everyone can afford a subscription. The Guardian has been a heap of shit over the past 5 years with the rare gem.

The Daily Mail employed Katy Hopkins but has (through a change of editor I believe?) been coming up with with some quite good gender-critical articles.

The independent is anything but lately.

But I'd certainly read an article before sharing it and asking people to report it. Have you read it yet? Do you find it sympathetic or not JK?

Pertella · 12/06/2020 18:10

People like Owen Jones are only bothered by the Suns reporting because it makes them look bad.

PurpleHoodie · 12/06/2020 18:15

The (online) Sun article is very supportive of JKR.

It has a huge readership.

HopeClearwater · 12/06/2020 22:22

I saw this and thought ‘good, the little turd isn’t even trying to defend himself - maybe readers will see how awful he is’. Didn’t think the paper was trying to defend him, although I hate the rag.

bd67thSaysReinstateLangCleg · 13/06/2020 21:00

I can't stand The Sun but I held my nose and read the article. It's supportive of JKR, not blaming her in any way nor defending him. His admission and the witness statements prove that he did abuse her, preventing the use of Laura Izaguirre's "TERFs be liars" discrediting tactic. It also mentions why JKR was disclosing abuse in her open letter and what the letter was about.

Millions of Sun readers now know that JKR has been monstered online for asserting biological realities that most of the population agree with. No wonder the woke brigade are so pissed off about this.

How arrogant- especially when you are pontificating without having read it.

1000umbrellas · 13/06/2020 21:20

The Sun's take on Emma Watson's reaction, which she tweeted after JKR published her essay, is pretty spot-on too.

Kdubs1981 · 13/06/2020 21:22

I really dislike the sun. HOWEVER- Lazy intellectual snobbery OP. If I had to hazard a guess you have no idea of the demographic of the SUN readership is. I'm pretty sure they know how to read and don't just buy it for the pictures.

This. Condemning writings without reading them first and exhorting others to do likewise is a trans privilege activist tactic. We should do better: read something before we judge it and supply a source so that others can do likewise. If you don't want to give a source clicks and ad revenue, use archive.org or a similar service to create an accurate copy.
