"Womanhood"

Is anyone else struck by how... Victorian... some of the vocabulary used by some TRAs and their handmaidens. The word "womanhood" in particular jumps out at me. I swear they'll be using "separate spheres" next!

(Now I'm rather fond of the Victorians in an intellectual way, and I find the history endlessly fascinating... but I don't want to be forced to go back and live there!)

I don't keep up with TRA lingo. It seems to change all the time.

I use womanhood in certain contexts and I wasn't aware it was supposed to be viewed as problematic or old fashioned. It's a normal word to me that encapsulates what I'm trying to convey - The experiences of women cannot be separated from biology. Being female shapes our 'lived reality'. The human brain and consciousness is inextricably linked to our human bodies. Womanhood is how I describe that entire conceptualisation of 'what it means to be a woman'.

How are the TRAs using it?

Well as they're TRAs (and handmaidens) they're obviously not using the word in the biological sense. It all seems to be about nebulous "feels". Grin The latest thing appears to be to accuse GC women of feeling that their womanhood is "threatened" by trans women.

To measure value and authenticity.

See also 'manly' to describe a heroic action.

How any woman's "womanhood" can be "threatened" by the overlords' identities is wishful thinking on their part.

Once again Lisa Muggeridge calls it:

"...their identity is the only thing they can see and they can only see you as a reflection or threat to it"

TBF the trans ideology is very Victorian with its rigid sex roles, pressure to conform and authoritarian colonialism.

Nah, because that might involve lady-feelings that involve doing unpaid domestic labour and caregiving, as opposed to wearing lipstick and frilly things... Wink
