Anyone get a response from Audible?

Sorry, I know there was an earlier thread about this but I can't find it now.

I've emailed Audible several times to ask if they were withdrawing advertising from Mumsnet. I used [email protected] and
[email protected]. No reply from either. I tried a generic customer service address and got a 'I'm sorry for the inconvenience' message back.

I paused my membership and have two days to decide whether to cancel. I'm pretty pissed off that I've emailed several times and have had no answer whatsoever. Does anyone have any other email accounts? I've searched on google but can't find any. I said in my email yesterday that, if I didn't get a reply, I would be cancelling so guess I'll be doing that now.

Thanks

I’ve offered to do a headcount of people planning on leaving.

🤚

Bubbletrouble43 · 12/06/2020 19:41

Hmmm reading with interest, currently on a free trial with audible.

Lordfrontpaw · 12/06/2020 19:45

I’ve been on for hourrrrrs and no info. You have to hand it to the chatbot1000, it does it’s thing very well.

I’m of a trial of Scribd- I even managed to pick up the same book I was halfway through on Audible!

Divoc2020 · 12/06/2020 22:03

Hmm - just tried to pause mine (which I do occasionally anyway when I've built up too many credits) but it's just timing out.... grr...

In other Audible news... just saw a promotion saying that all the Harry Potter series are free to members at the moment as part of their 'Stories' series for while the schools are closed!

Ha @Divoc2020 - the irony!

I paused my account but then it restarted again and took a payment. So I’ve used my last credit to buy a Robert Galbraith audiobook and then I’m going to cancel it!

They’re clearly not of the same mindset as their social media person if they are releasing the HP series for free. That’s good news.

Hoping the issue will just go away eh? Funny how some people can raise and issue or male a complaint and the whole world seems to jump. But a complaint from a few little ole women and...

SerenityNowwwww · 03/07/2020 14:15

Anyone?

SerenityNowwwww · 03/07/2020 14:19

Looks like they have a handy 'cut and paste' menu now to basically not answer queries.

I asked if this includes women (he said yes) then I asked him what this all actually meant and he cut me off!

Our People Principles that define our collective purpose call on us to “celebrate the glories of the human spectrum,” “protect inherent civil rights” and pursue equality as a core purpose.

These values underlie our commitment to our colleagues as we build a shared sense of safety and belonging in our workplace, and they inspire our mission to elevate marginalized voices — because we have the ability to foster compassion, inclusiveness and understanding in our listeners through our content.

@Lordfrontpaw

Their twitter account if full of BLM stuff at the moment. Chatbot 1000 is telling me that they are not misogynists but im not convinced.
The Workileaks Twitter account recently (23rd June) made an interesting point about bots.

The contact page on our website is set up to look like it's powered by artificial intelligence. Really it's 24/7 outsourced customer service workers, and they're trained to act like a dumb chatbot if a visitor complains too hard.

SerenityNowwwww · 05/07/2020 10:29

Fascinating! I had a feeling they were very very drilled people but there are far easier ways to send off a pissed off customer feeling like they are being listened too and not monumentally annoyed is that they cancel their account and tell everyone they know why.

Ameanstreakamilewide · 05/07/2020 10:54

Exactly Serenity. Everyday's a school day. 😉

Some of the Tweets are very interesting, actually.

SerenityNowwwww · 05/07/2020 11:00

Must check it out.

I use Scribd now - they are brilliant and their help people are really nice and human (and don’t pretend not to be). I am listening to the new Trump book - and it has magazines too. All very good. Very happy with Scribd.

They are very good and have a great choice of audio books and onscreen materials. Lots to choose from - oh my, everything I was looking for was there.

That’s Scribd. I returned all my audible books and got all my money back when I closed my account.

ScrimpshawTheSecond · 05/07/2020 11:07

Thanks for the tip - have signed up to Scribd & cancelled Audible.

SerenityNowwwww · 05/07/2020 11:10

😉😙

Iminthewrongstory · 05/07/2020 11:11

I use the libby app. It connects your library card to your local library for free audiobooks and e-books. Sometimes there's a wait, but I got my first choice audiobook - very popular, topical novel - within a week. Only thing that's a pain is that you only have two weeks to listen to them once you've got access. If there's a waiting list you have to return it and then apply a hold again. But FREE and supports your local library. apps.apple.com/gb/app/libby-by-overdrive/id1076402606

SerenityNowwwww · 05/07/2020 11:14

Daft question but are the libraries operating just now?

SerenityNowwwww · 05/07/2020 11:18

No one is asking about this on their twitter account. The Body Shop still getting tweets about its misogyny though.

JoeGargery · 05/07/2020 11:29

@SerenityNowwwww I believe some are planning to, although my local one has not released any plans yet. But for Libby, BorrowBox and RBDigital, everything works as normal. Thanks for the tip about Scribd, had never heard of it.

@Iminthewrongstory, my Libby allows my 21 days I think! 14 days would be pushing it for me, these days sadly.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 05/07/2020 12:21

I'm going to give Scribd a go. My one problem with it is that I can't see what it has without signing up, so I'm a bit worried that it won't have the type of books that I like to listen to. But they do have 30 days free trial so I suppose that if I find I'm not getting membership-level value out of it then I can stop. The attraction that Audible has for me is that I keep the books, whereas with Scribd once I stop my membership I can't access anything. But then I don't often re-listen to a book, I just like knowing that I can.

SerenityNowwwww · 05/07/2020 12:34

The free trial is a good idea. The thing is you pay monthly and download as much as you want. Audible was a fee and you for 1 or 2 credits and had to buy extra if you wanted to listen to more. Scribd also has magazines which are not bad.

JoeGargery · 05/07/2020 13:23

Tbh once I discovered the library access to Libby, borrowbox and RBdigital, I barely used audible so cancelling was no big deal

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 05/07/2020 13:25

I tried my library but they just didn't have a huge range, anything they did have that I liked I had already read or listened to and almost every audio book had a waiting list. Mind you, that was near the start of lockdown, so probably less of a waiting list once people are out and about doing other things.

JoeGargery · 05/07/2020 13:45

That's annoying, Black. I guess I'm lucky with my regional offer.
