JK Rowling, you are so appreciated for speaking up. What's going on now so reminds me of the times in HP when the other students turned against him. I often think of what Dumbledore said (well, you said it), that it's easier to forgive someone for being wrong than it is to forgive them for being right. I think that's part of what's being so vociferously flung at you right now.

Thank you for standing up for the sex-based rights of girls and women. I still cannot wrap my head around the idea that you would receive so much abuse and vitriol for mildly and politely stating some biological facts. I feel like I've woken up in a dystopian nightmare where up is down, and down is up. Please take a break from Twitter if you need to, the people on there seem to live in a parallel universe to most of us.

Makes you realise how little critical thinking many have. Only women have periods isn't saying every woman does. Just that if you do then you are a biological woman and not biologically male. Swathes of 'I'm menopausal am I am man" logical leaps

If anyone can identify as a woman the term becomes meaningless. Is that really what anyone wants? How does this help identify and redress inequality to women?

And this is essentially what's been said. The backlash is truly baffling and depressing.
