I bet he feels a bit stupid now if he’s read JKR’s essay. At least I hope so.
And I would imagine that Redmayne may, in the future, despair of his timing. He looks like an absolute dick.
Radcliffe was described in today’s Times as ‘graceless’. And I fundamentally believe that there will be loads of folk who have no idea what’s happening, but will know that Radcliffe capitulated to save his own skin. The narrative will simplify and he will be known as someone who betrayed the person he owes his career to. And there will be interviewers and reviewers who will not give him the benefit of the doubt.
I always wanted him to be a better actor than he was. Now I have the relief of no longer hoping that him or Watson could act their way out of a paper bag.
Twitter may be full of US avatars telling him he is wonderful, but that is not the real world.
But as we’ve said before, how many famous/ well regarded / intelligent people have actually come out and disagreed with JKR?
Where are the world leaders? The great writers? The respected philosophers?
There is a lot of people making a lot of noise about this, and they feel very influential at the moment. But remember when it seemed impossible that the NHS would never stop saying puberty blockers had no effect on children? It was hard, boring, non-glittery activism that got that changed. And we will get other things changed as well.
