I haven't seen a thread about this but I find it hard to get my head round.

"of 124 sexual assaults in five women's jails over the previous nine years, from 2010 to 2018, seven had been carried out by trans prisoners.'

Also I just can't get the stats right in my head from the way they are quoted. The semantics are twisted in knots, and anyone not familiar with any of this would find it impenetrable.

I can't remember the thread, but a MNetter who has DSD has posted about their experience before. They described being in prison with female anatomy with a male exterior appearance, and that the prison staff managed the whole situation so that they were never expected to shower in sight of other inmates, all vulnerabilities were met and no other inmate ever knew.

I’m confused by this. Is it saying they put a transman (biological female) in a male prison?

This sounds unlikely to me but I can’t see any other way that none of the inmates knew. If it was a women’s prison a male bodied person would stand out like a sore thumb.

That's also an interesting post as there had be been reports (probably links on other threads) of intact trans prisoners showering with the women.

Even more interestingly when I googled with a few different key words and tried to find one of the reports, only 1 came up, with the vast majority of results saying putting trans women in a men's prison is cruel.

And I'm sure that lots of men have a terrible time in prison. The answer is not to put vulnerable men in with women. Especially if they are convicted sex offenders. I still can't believe the UK authorities did that. Anyone with half a brain could predict the outcome.

The answer is for men's prisons to get on top of the issues they have with violence and sexual violence, and have a separate facility for trans women, if that will protect them, rather than putting them in women's prisons.

Tach as I remember, the MNetter had DSD, they were not trans. They had female anatomy with an outwardly male appearance and a male identity, placed in a male prison. If I remember right, the prison service didn't know about their anatomical differences until after the MNetter was there.
