Caught this show and this segment whilst on my lunch break. Haven't seen a thread on this and thought it may be of interest.

Discussion on SNP proposal for gender recognition reform, principally with SNP MP Kirsty Blackman from the panel and Rhona Hotchkiss (LGB alliance). Section is towards the end of the show (12.45pm onwards I'd guess). It's on the iPlayer now.

I wonder if any of the panel had seen Lisa Nandy on GMB earlier in the day?

(Usually a lurker, but follow the threads daily.)

Yes, it was excellent of the part of Rhona Hotchkiss. She got in more than I would have believed possible, with enormous clarity, and Jo Coburn definitely gave her enough room to speak.
Kirsty Blackman was busy deploying the all-new 'we just want to talk reasonably and calmly about this' methodology that is suddenly fashionable now everyone is watching them, and the other woman on the panel was a teensy bit spluttery, but has clearly been watching the ongoing mess on Twitter and elsewhere and knew enough to say she was terrified of speaking about it in case she got screamed at for being a bigot, and I don't think anyone here will think she didn't mean militant TRAs when she said that.

Kirsty Blackman was very keen on talking in a civilised fashion, I wondered if she was trying to give the SNP a little wiggle room what with mentioning that not everyone agreed that TWAW? Not sure there.

I thought Lord Woods was just plain relieved to be talking about debate, and not The Debate at the heart of the matter. Rhona Hotchkiss was great - calm and collected.

It's definitely a thing - don't know if it's because people are actually being wiser, or at the very least canny enough to realize the authoritarian 'shut up terf' stuff hasn't got legs, or what, but reasonable conversation is a baseline starting point we've been trying to get to for a few years, so you know...
