I know Malorie Blackman has a TV series to promote but

Given she writes for teens predominantly it's disappointing that she seems to not have any concerns re rapid onset or the judicial review into the Tavistock. Concerns about best practice and safeguarding do not question anyone's existence.

There really is no answer to #1 is there!

‘We’d love to, but ...’

EwwSprouts · 05/03/2020 15:48

My answer would be I do leave them alone. I know I've been in the same toilets at work (NHS) and said nothing. But I'm really peed off about self-ID and the birth certificate case so on those matters I will speak up for women and children.

Great replies below and a lovely sword photo for the women reading.

Lordfrontpaw · 05/03/2020 17:18

I can’t see replies. Are they still there?

BritneyPeedOnALadybug · 05/03/2020 18:30

“Imagine caring what people post on mumsnet. That place is more toxic than 4chan ffs.” Confused

The same user also posted a tweet that Rebecca Long Bailey looks like “a poorly designed sex doll.” Hmm

BritneyPeedOnALadybug · 05/03/2020 18:31

SORRY, I should clarify that was one of the replies to the quoted tweet , not what Malorie blackman said!

Lordfrontpaw · 05/03/2020 18:31

Yes, twitter - home of the discerning troll...

vaginafetishist · 05/03/2020 19:29

Yes the replies on the original tweet.

Winesalot · 05/03/2020 19:48

Oh my. I followed a tweet trail about why no one writes specifically about the threats from the Trans activists to a few screenshots from Amelia (works at Target).

And yet, there seems no censure or acknowledgement from any activists.

From the Graun:

Asked her thoughts on racial fluidity and whether somebody could just “feel black”, [Blackman] said: “It’s a tricky one. I believe in gender fluidity and that you can be born in the wrong body. With race, you can admire someone’s culture, but if you’re not born into it …

“Can I, for example, just turn around and say I am an Inuit because that’s how I want to identify? There’s more to it than that, it’s about being brought up in the culture. It’s an interesting thing to explore, maybe I’ll try and write a story about it!”

Best of luck with that Hmm

^^Worse than I thought. Any bets on it being the next novel?

I’ll take a gamble with the odds being 10,000/1

I’m a bit confused as well as she seems to think skin colour and culture are the same thing. There are lots of British famous people that were born in India, as one example. If Joanna Lumley was raised in India instead of Britain does MB, using her own argument, think JL has a claim to identify as Indian?

I’m also struggling how she can think someone that thinks their skin colour doesn’t match how they “feel inside” isn’t valid yet at the same time believes someone can be born into the wrong sexed body.

DidoLamenting · 06/03/2020 20:25

I see she was responding to a tweet by Reni Eddo- Lodge. I don't think I've ever read anything about or by Eddo-Lodge which has made me warm to her. She seems to be an excellent example of the humourless, dictatorial, authoritarian left.

How really strange that she can see you cant just "identify" as a race because of the lived experience that gives you, but seems to accept that even though being born a particular sex means you experience or are treated by the world in a different way, can somehow just be wished away.

Oh dear, does that mean I should now boycott the tv series?
