Just wanted to pop this article here. The photographs are beautiful. The photograph at the charcoal kiln is my favourite.

They are great. I’d like to have them on my wall. The colour really takes you there doesn’t it? I can’t feel as connected with black and white

Beautiful images

I read the article but didn’t see it stated where this collection is from, whether prints are available at all etc?

You’re right, it doesn’t mention it. It just credits Royston Leonard from Cardiff as the digital artist.

I just can’t imagine living in a time like that. Fear and camaraderie. It puts things into perspective.

Colourised film and photos always bring the subject to life.

I first saw the colourised work of a journalist from WW2 as the Allies began their travels across France. The sunny, tree blossom lined avenues in springtime were peaceful and amazing but terrifying, knowing what the convoy of trucks was soon about to witness.

Thanks for sharing! I've seen his stuff before. He's an electrician from Cardiff but also an amateur photographer and has colourised loads of WWI and WWII photos. They're often of troops so it's good to see he's done some of women too.

There are lots on the mediadrumworld site which is where I think the DM has lifted these from. There's a couple of startling (they're safe for work) photos from the Blitz on this page mediadrumworld.com/2017/09/26/14915/

Fabulous photos. The colour really makes it come to life.

If you're interested in colourization, I'd recommend looking up a very talented young Brazilian woman called Marina Amaral.
